JESUS HIDDEN IN THE NAME OF GOD

(Ver 1.1) This will be a short lesson for our readers that do not have a lot of time to study the Bible. However, this will be a very important lesson about a hidden picture of the work of God in Jesus found in one of His most popular Old Covenant names.  What we discover in the Gospels is Jesus trying to reach the lost sheep of the house of Israel (Matthew 15:24). This was one way that God was trying to turn the natural nation of Israel back to knowing Him. This teaches us a lot about the heart of God to be LOVE! The heart, and Spirit of God who is LOVE (1 John 4:8), had continually tried to turn their hearts of His old covenant people back to Him, over and over!

When we discover that He placed clues to all of our salvation, in His name, He demonstrates to us that He was showing us how much He loved us all!  This is a very interesting and revealing Bible study, that will be eye opening to a lot of Christians. This study is designed to be open to everyone, even those that do not yet believe in Christ.

INTRODUCTION TO JEHOVAH

One of the primary names of God found in the Old Testament is Jehovah, which is an English transliteration for the Hebrew “Yehovah”. This is the Hebrew word H3068 and it occurs over 6000 times in the Old Testament. This name has been translated into the English word “LORD” for the majority of times it was recorded. Only twice was it translated in the KJV Bible as “GOD” and twice as “JEHOVAH”.

Think about how God selected this name.  Could God have wanted His people to “know” something more than just this is My name? Of course, He did. It appears God revealed Himself in the Bible using several different names, and each one possesses qualities that define His personality, ability, and nature. Therefore, we can conclude that we can learn more about God by just learning about His names. Do you want to “know” Him personally, more today than yesterday?

Remember the Hebrew word for “know” is “yada” (H3045). and this word represents a “covenant” relationship between two parties like a husband and a wife, or God and His people!

Exo 6:3  And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known (H3045) to them.

In Exodus 6:3, during the time of Israel’s deliverance from their captivity in Egypt, God was desiring to show Himself to them through His covenant name. God very clearly informed them in Exodus, that none of their forefathers, Abraham, Isaac or Jacob knew (H3045) God by the name of JEHOVAH! This verse of Exodus informs us that God revealed Himself to the foundational family members of natural Israel, by the primary name of “God Almighty” (Gen 17:1, Gen 28:3, Gen 35:11, and Gen 48:3).  This was the name “El Shaddai”, another English transliteration.

Psa 91:14  Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known (H3045) my name.

We are not going to go through every verse that we could potentially find about knowing God’s name as Jehovah. But this one seemed good to the Holy Spirit to mention. The 91st Psalm is an awesome promise of God for protection from our enemies. Verse 14 is noteworthy because God says “IF we set our love upon Him by knowing His name, He will deliver us and set us on high above our enemy”. Wow that is awesome. Do you LOVE God? Do you LOVE His Spirit living on the inside of you? Do you LOVE His Word so much, that you cannot make it through a day without feeding on it? If you do just half as much as I do, then you also want to KNOW HIS NAME! We must have a hunger and thirst to know Him intimately and personally.

What we have seen in Psalm 91, is a strong indicator that knowing God’s name is one of the keys to His divine covenant provisions for peace, protection, safety, blessings, etc. This is not the only requirement, but it must be one of the most significant.

That is what this lesson will help to reveal to you. It is my heart’s desire to show you something in the name of the LORD that is truly amazing. You may or may not have learned this before, but even if this is not new, it should still be a blessing.

THE ANCIENT HEBREW ALPHABET

If you have read many of the lessons that the LORD has given to me on this website to share, then you already have a hint that the ancient Hebrew alphabet is a spectacular hidden treasure of specific design by the Holy Spirit. If you are new to this website, we will review some of the important foundational information needed to understand the remainder of the lesson. First, the Hebrew alphabet is composed of 22 letters. Each letter has a visual picture, a specific sound, a meaning, and an associated specific number value. This teaches us that even each alphabet letter has layers of potential hidden information.

For example, computer numbering systems can contain numbers and letters. The hexadecimal number system consists of 10 numbers (0-9), and 5 alphabet letters, A through F. Combining these causes a specific type of code that is unknown to anyone that is unaware of this number system. For example, the number 10 in hexadecimal, does not mean there are 10 items that have been counted, it actually means there have been 16 items counted. The number before 10 is 0F in Hex numbers.

Now consider another layer of code being placed upon the top of the hex coded number system.  Computer geeks created a system of exchange of characters called ASCII. This acronym means “American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII).  In this code system the hex number “41” has been assigned the meaning of the alphabet letter “A”. Do you follow how this could work? Believe it or not this is exactly how computers, smart phones and tablets work and you probably were clueless. That is exactly how the Bible was written. This teaches us God implemented a book of such immense intelligent design, that most humans are completely clueless of the hidden layers and complexity of valuable truth contained in it.

What we need to learn is that God knowing everything, can easily hide information using things that we think we understood, but did not see, because it was not obvious at first. This is what this lesson is about using only Hebrew letters for one major name of God.

HOW JESUS IDENTIFIED HIMSELF

We have learned in previous lessons, that Jesus associated Himself with the alphabet letters, by claiming in Revelation 1:8, 1:11, 21:6, and 22:13 to be the “Alpha” and “Omega”, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. The translators were wise enough to capitalize the first letter of these words to represent names of God, and to be more specific Jesus.

The Holy Spirit who knows all languages, can speak through a Jewish man named John in any language. It is very clear from reading the book of Revelation that John understood both the Hebrew and Greek languages, because he gave us the names of some spirit beings in both tongues. For example, Revelation 9:11 says; a king over the bottomless pit is called by the name Abaddon in Hebrew, and the name Apollyon in Greek. Both names are identical, but only seen from two human languages.

God chose to write this clue of the Alpha and the Omega, for the world to receive using the Greek alphabet, which was one of the major world languages of that day. A very significant portion of the world had been conquered by a Grecian named Alexander the Great, and this caused the common language of Greek to be spread as a standard form of communication for governmental and economic business. God had prophesied to natural Israel, that through Abraham all the nations of the world, would be blessed, and this was being fulfilled with the Words of God being written in the Greek New Testament. This was by God’s design and not human reasoning.

What we are learning is a repetitious pattern found within the Bible, and especially the Old Covenant writings in ancient Hebrew. God was clever to only reveal this in the last book, to keep it a hidden secret for the majority of human history. I believe God did this to make it known to His people today in the world, just before the end of the age, which is coming very near. Let us quickly examine Jesus as the first and the last.

Please go and read Revelation 3:14, which is a letter spoken by Jesus and written by John to the church at Laodicea. In this verse Jesus makes the direct claim to be “the beginning of creation of God”. This statement further implies that He is also the end of God’s creation by logical understanding. This conclusion is based upon Him calling Himself the “Alpha” and the “Omega”, where one is the beginning alphabet letter, and the other is the ending alphabet letter. Wow, that is very interesting to think about. Let us look at another verse to help confirm this reality:

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Here is further confirmation of Jesus’ role, to be the beginning of God’s words, and the completion of God’s words that cause our faith to first come, grow and to become fruitful to be harvested. We must understand what Romans 10:17 says, in order to understand the claims being taught. In this verse, God says “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God”. Now place this fact together with the Hebrew 12:2 claim of Jesus being the beginning of faith and the ending of our faith.

Do you see the connections being made between words and faith? Do you remember where and how words are created? All words are formed by selecting, combining, and organizing the available alphabet letters necessary to achieve a thought, and idea, a concept, a picture, or a meaning that is desired to be communicated by someone to someone! It can be called communication or verbal intercourse.

One Hebrew dictionary defines a “spoken word” to be the arrangement or placement of letters, to create order or organization. Now think about this in the terms of the creation of our world in Genesis 1. God looked in Genesis 1:2-3, at the darkness, chaos, confusion and disorder that was covering the face of the earth, and then commanded with words the solution “Light Be”, and then light was. We can clearly see this is how God works to bring order out of disorder using organized letters of words, and this teaches us how the entire Bible is designed.

Where are we going with this? We should be drawing nearer to the conclusion, that if the beginning, and ending alphabet letters represent Jesus (God’s Word), then every other letter in between them, must also represent an image, form, pattern, or type of the same God named Jesus (the Word of God).

Because Jesus makes the direct claim to be the first, and last letters of the alphabet, it is very logical, practical, and even common sensical, to say all of the other letters, found in between these two, also represent Jesus the Christ in some form. God would not limit Jesus, to only two alphabet letters to form every word that needed to be commanded, spoken and communicated to His people.

I have concluded from many years of Bible study, that every verse in the Bible is intelligently designed to teach us about Jesus in some potentially direct or hidden way (John 5:39). I have now further concluded that every letter of the alphabet is revealing something to us about Jesus. God has been attempting to communicate His good life, nature and character, to us to warn us about eternal death and separation from Him. He has been doing this, from the very beginning, even to the very ending opportunity, for us to come and learn about Him. WOW!

JEHOVAH – THE HIDDEN JESUS

You should know already, that the name of Jesus in the English language is a transliteration of the Greek name “Iesous”. The Greek name “Iesous” is a transliteration of the Hebrew name “Yehoshua” and this was translated in English as “Joshua”. However, this name of Jesus, and Joshua contains God’s Old Covenant name revealed as JEHOVAH to Israel in the Old Testament over 6000 times. The name of Jesus literally means “Jehovah-saved” and is a joining of two Hebrew words with the first meaning self-existent, and the name “Jehovah”, and the second meaning “salvation”. Clearly this is a very significant name that was given to Jesus by an angel sent from God, and it declares to the world, Jesus is JEHOVAH, and I WILL SAVE!

However, we are about to discover how God hid the identity of Jesus in His work to save us, directly in His Old Covenant name using just, 4 Hebrew alphabet letters. It is also very interesting to note that two of these letters were repeated, therefore there are only 3 unique letters in the name of JEHOVAH. So let us begin to learn how these 3 letters selected and organized by God, reveal Jesus’ identity.

It is very interesting that there are 3 unique alphabet letters selected by God to form His Old Covenant name. Three is a significant number depicting strength as noted by Ecclesiastes 4:12, where God says a threefold cord is not easily broken. Obviously three is the number for the trinity. This triune quality of God is found in several verses, with God being identified by the personalities of the Father, the Son or the Word, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17, 1 John 5:7).

The first Hebrew letter of the name Jehovah is the letter “Yod”.  In the ancient Hebrew paleo representation, it is an arm with its hand extended. This is very significant when used for God. It appears to teach us that it was God that worked to create us, and it will be God’s work that will save us. It was His Love that reached out to us, even while humans were sinful lost people going to hell.

The second letter of the name of Jehovah is the “Hey”. In the ancient Hebrew paleo representation, this is a picture of a man with both arms raised being amazed or in awe of what he is witnessing with his eyes. It contains the meaning of a surprised expression of words like “Lo” or “Behold”, meaning “Look” at that. What we are observing so far, is God’s proactive action of saving work, that is designed to be viewed by humans in awe!

The third letter of the name of Jehovah is the “Vav”. In the ancient Hebrew paleo representation, this is a picture of a “peg” or a “nail” that is driven into something to make it secure as in a joining together of two items. For example, if you desired to join two pieces of lumber together, you could use a nail to accomplish the work. Wow, this is getting really good.

Now the fourth letter of the name of Jehovah is the “Hey” again. Remember this is the letter that was a man with two hands raised, like we find in the praise of God in 1 Timothy 2:8. But the word meaning still represent “surprise and awe” as in “Behold”, “Look”, “See”, etc.

What message do we have, placing all of these letter pictures together? If we join the pictures together of the hand extended, and the behold, the nail, and another behold, we find God is saying “BEHOLD THE HAND, BEHOLD THE NAIL”. Who else can this be speaking of besides Jesus the Christ, who was crucified by being nailed to a cross? The nails in the hands of Jesus held his body to the tree. Today, if you go to heaven, Jesus can show you His hands and the nail prints in them, to prove His love for you in His saving work.

Can you see how there are two men standing in awe in this name of God? One man is the Hand of God reaching out. The other man represents the object that God is reaching for to save and this is the lost human. God joined these two separated men together by joining a human body to be nailed on a cross. Ok, both heaven, and earth are standing in awe, and amazement of God’s work that He planned before Adam was created, and has accomplished, for a people that did not deserve it. WOW! What we are seeing is the plan of human salvation from just one name containing 4 letters organized in a way to convey an important message.

We have now gone full circle. God Jehovah in heaven became a man named Jesus in the flesh, in order to save everyone that would believe in Him. He did this to receive nails in His hands. The name Jesus meant Jehovah saved and the name Jehovah means “Look at my hands, and look at the nails in my hands”. Is this enough to help anyone to see, how much God loved us?

CONCLUSION

One of the most amazing things about the Bible, is all of the evidence that we can find in its supernatural design. No book containing 66 books, and written over literally many hundreds of years by at least 40 authors, could have this amount of coordinated intricate design, unless the Spirit of the Living God wrote the book personally and told them what to say.

We have discovered profound evidence declaring the Work of God in the Old Covenant name of JEHOVAH. Doesn’t this make you think, about how anyone could have missed the death of Jesus to not be the death of their God on a cross? Doesn’t this information scream how much the God of all good creation, loved His creation, to personally get involved in fixing, and restoring our relationship with Him, when we were unable to do it ourself?

Thank you very much for taking the time to read and study the Bible with us. It is always a humbling pleasure to share the LOVE of God with others. His Word is the most amazing and awe-inspiring book that exists. There are no other books that even come close.

It would be a very interesting study, if you are able to do it, to take each letter of the ancient Hebrew alphabet and just see if you can find Jesus hidden in the picture, sound, meaning, or number of the letter. I believe it is possible. One great location to begin your study is Psalm 119. This is the longest chapter of the Bible, and it was designed by God using every letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Every 8 verses will go from the “alef” to the “tav” in their order. Every first word of each verse begins with that letter that is being featured by God to teach you something.  Do you believe that this was an accident? Or are you like many others, and can see Jesus everywhere in the Bible?
