Understanding How To Make Jesus Your Spiritual Legal Advocate Right Now!

(Ver 2.1)  This is Part 3 in a lesson series on “Understanding the Heavenly Laws and Court System of Heaven”.  I wrote this lesson a long time ago, but I have learned so much new while studying this subject that I felt that I needed to rewrite it to included more new information.  I love this subject.  It is one of the most important topics for a new Christian to learn after becoming saved.  Knowing this should change you and motivate you to become more like God who is Holy.  I hope you have read the entire series from the beginning but if not please click on “Part 1” now.  When I originally wrote on this subject I was thinking of a Christian only missing out on one judgement by making Jesus their personal Legal Advocate.  I knew that there was coming a great white throne judgment at the end of this age after the Great Tribulation.  We can read about this judgement in Revelation 20:11.  Only unsaved people will be judged during this time of judgment.  Therefore, I knew that by making Jesus my Lord right now, I would not be standing before the Great White Throne of Judgment then.  That was the main message of this lesson.  However, since continuing to study the subject of the “Courts of Heaven” the LORD has revealed so much new information in the last few months.

What the LORD has been saying to me and teaching me about this subject is very profound and essential to understand.  Christians are being brought before the throne of God right now by Satan our legal adversary and accuser (Rev 12:10).  In 1 Peter 4:17 God reveals that judgement begins with His House right now in the church age of Grace.  Paul wrote and warned the Church in 1 Corinthians 1:11 that IF we JUDGE our self, we will not be judged.  I know a lot of people say they are Christian today but don’t believe this is what the Bible says and what the Holy Spirit has been teaching His Church.  What I would suggest to you if you don’t believe is that you pray and ask the LORD to reveal this to you if it is true.  Then open your Bible and become a Berean type of Bible student (Acts 17:11).  Ask the LORD, do I need a personal legal Advocate right now.  Let’s get into the lesson and permit the Holy Spirit to speak.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SPIRITUA ADVOCATE

Today is a Bible lesson on “Understanding How to Make Jesus Your Spiritual Legal Advocate” now.   We will discuss what a Spiritual Legal Advocate is and what He does for us and then we will discuss why we as humans need a Spiritual Advocate.  Let’s start by defining the word “advocate”.  A legal advocate is always someone who holds superior knowledge on the subject of the law.  In our world people have to go to school for many years of legal study, graduate and then must pass an extensive legal bar exam in order to become a licensed legal advocate.  Some people call these individuals lawyers, attorneys or others call them counselors.  A counselor is someone who uses their wisdom and knowledge of the law to give you “advice” or “counsel” on what you should do in the given situation that you are in before the court and judge.  A lawyer is of course someone who practices the profession of defending, prosecuting, administrating or judging the laws passed by the legal bodies in power.

Today in our complex legal court systems, if you try to show up before a judge without a highly knowledgeable and skilled attorney you are in some serious legal jeopardy.  Let me tell you about one man I know of.  This man was chatting on the internet with a girl.  He was over 21 and she said she was 16.  He asked to meet her and set a location and time for the meeting.  As he neared the location the Police officers arrested him.  It turns out that this man had been talking with undercover Police on the internet in a sex sting.  Well this man could not afford an attorney to help defend him.  Even though he had not committed any crime by talking or meeting anyone, the district attorney threw the book at him and threatened him with many years of jail.  This prosecutor after scaring the man then offered him a plea deal.  In this deal he would not go to jail but needed to agree with counseling, become a registered sex offender and he would be on probation for a couple of years reporting to a parole officer.  This was all because this man could not afford the proper legal defense.  Now, I’m not saying he was right for doing what he did at all.  No, we must all understand that even the intent of sin has consequences.  What I am saying is that this man needed a good lawyer.  Let me give you another example quickly that makes the point a little more.

In another legal matter in past years I recall a very famous court trial for the very serious offense and charge of murder.  I will not name names, but I will tell you that this one trial that I am using as an example today was concerning a gruesome set of murders of two people.  You may know who I am talking about as I go.  This individual was charged with the crime, but he hired a “dream team” of legal counselors because he was a rich man and could afford the best that money could buy.  While the prosecution seemed to present a good case, they were no match for the highly paid legal minds of the “dream team” lawyers who cleverly made the prosecution look foolish.  To me the evidence presented in the trial was very compelling, but to the jury this man was found not guilty and thus got away with murder because of his lawyer’s abilities.

You see in our legal system all the lawyers have to do is to present reasonable doubt for someone committing the crime to allow the judge and the jury to acquit them.  This was the approach of the “dream team” lawyers.  They discredited the truth with as many doubts as they could invent.  They introduced unrelated distractions that had nothing to do with the evidence presented.  They manipulated the jury to believe what they wanted them to see and they won.   There is a basic rule of law that the judge and the jury must judge and find for the prosecution or the defense based upon the evidence being presented.  Whoever, does the best job at this is usually the victor.

I learned a lot right from these cases that the truth didn’t matter, justice didn’t matter, fairness didn’t matter and even the proof and evidence didn’t matter.  No, what mattered the most was if you had a good advocate on your side to help you plead your case then you could be set free.  This man accused of this horrific crime never got up to testify and never opened his mouth to defend himself one time.  The only people that spoke for him were his masterful attorneys and they prevailed.  You can obviously disagree with what I just said, but that would clearly be your opinion vs. mine.  So let’s drop our opinions and see what God and the Bible says to us on the subject of our legal advocate.

1Jn 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1Jn 1:10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1Jn 2:1  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

We can clearly learn several important things from these verses if we allow the Spirit of God to show us what they say.   The primary subject of these verses is “sin” and more specifically the sin of a Christian.  There are teachers in the world today that claim a Christian does not sin.  There are teachers today that claim that it does not matter if a Christian sins because there are no consequences for it.  There are even teachers today that claim we never have to obey these verses in 1 John 1 to ask God to forgive us for our sin.  Wow, what a deception that is being given to the Church.  That is exactly what Satan wants a Christian to believe.

Sin can be defined as many different things.  The Greek word G266 translated as “sin” simply means “to commit an offense””.  An offense simply occurs when a person commits an illegal act by disobeying the law.  For today’s discussion I will define sin as committing a violation of the law of God since we are discussing legal matters in a court of heaven.  There are certainly many other more complex aspects to the subject of what sin is or is not, but I will not be discussing those today.  Please do not get distracted on the subject of sin from me reading just a couple of verses from 1 John on the subject.  I simply can’t teach everything in one lesson, so let’s move on with today’s subject of why we as Christians need an advocate.

The Bibles tells us clearly that “ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23).  John 1:10 says to Christians that if we say we have never sinned we make Jesus a liar and His Seed is not in us.   So it is not so much “if” a Christian will sin as to say “when” a Christian sins as verses 9 and 10 imply.  However, these verses are also clearly implying that the goal for a Christian should be that we should never sin.  But, if we do sin, then this verse 2:1 very clearly teaches us we have a major advantage over many other unsaved people in the world.  This advantage is because we have the Spirit of Jesus our righteousness living on the inside of us acting as our spiritual legal advocate, adviser and counselor to help us to change from repeating that sin.

Perhaps this will be a good time to further define the word translated as “advocate” in these verses.  This Greek word is G3875 and was translated as “advocate” in 1 John 2:1 because of the legal descriptions being made in the contextual verses.  This Greek word can also be translated as a “counselor” which is an equivalent name for a “trial lawyer”.  It is also translated as “comforter” in the Gospel of John verses where Jesus said “I will send you another comforter (G3875)…”.  The word comforter describes someone who provides “consolation” and that simply means someone that speaks or provides comfort or aide during a great time of loss or suffering.  I believe all of these can be applied to a legal court case.

Is there a court in Heaven with Laws?

Jesus our righteous advocate is now seated at the right hand in the presence of the supreme judge who is God (Heb. 12:2).  If we are Christians then we also learn that the Holy Spirit lives inside us (1 Cor 6:19) to further help us, and advise and counsel with us.  That is a great legal advantage for Christians against our adversary the devil.  In fact I would call this legal team the Ultimate and Unlimited Dream Team of Spiritual Lawyers.  These verses we just read in 1 John 1:9-2:1 and others that I have not yet covered clearly state that Jesus our righteousness is said to be our personal spiritual advocate.

Conditions for Having Jesus as Your Advocate:

  1. if we are Christians, (1 John was written to the Church)
  2. if we confess our sins, (1 Jn 1:9)
  3. if we ask for forgiveness (Lk 11:4, 1 Jn 1:9)
  4. if we repent (Acts 26:20, Rev 3:19)
  5. if we turn and change our sinful way (Acts 26:20, Rom 11:26, 2 Cor 3:16)

Please notice that there are conditions to this legal court arrangement with your Advocate.  God is Sovereign but yet we still have responsibility to ask and participate willingly in obedience.

If you are not a Christian, then you have serious legal issues when it comes to being judged by God and I would not wish to be in your shoes when this occurs.  I have heard people say that will never happen, or I am not a bad person and do bad things.  But, that is not true when you compare your goodness with God’s Holy Standards.   In this section I want to address the fact that Law exists on the earth and that this LAW on the earth came from Heaven.  Let’s examine verses that reveal where the earthly Law came from next:

Mal 4:4  Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Here we have scriptural evidence and proof to the fact that God gave the law to Moses and Moses wrote it down for the children of Israel.  This represents a scriptural witness of the testimony of God.  This is what occurs during a trial.  What I am demonstrating to you is that God invented laws, courts, judges, prosecutors, lawyers and judgments.  These are not man made ideas, but we can see that they originated from our creator.  Our courts in America were modeled by our founding fathers after God’s courts in heaven, if you did not know that you should learn and study that fact until you accept it.  These founding fathers of the USA came from England to worship God freely without government control.  They read their Bibles extensively and wrote about it clearly.  I don’t have time to teach this and there are many other people that have books dedicated to this subject.  Go search for them and read them please.  Let’s read another witness testimony:

Neh 10:29  They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

God said to let every word be established in the mouth of two or three witnesses.  So here we have a second witness to the fact that the Old Testament books of the Bible were dictated by God to Moses His servant and these are the statutes and judgments of God.  A statute is just a written law, so this is not that complicated.  A judgment is a verdict issued by the judge, either of guilt or innocence towards those that are under the law.

Ok, I can hear the questions being raised by my last paragraph.  Many will ask doesn’t the Bible say the Church is under Grace and not the LAW?   We can all read Romans 6:14-15 where Paul teaches us that the church is not under the law, but now is under Grace.  Many people take these truths and attempt to make them the only truth and that is still a problem.  For example, Jesus said “A NEW COMMANDMENT I GIVE YOU, THAT YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER, AS I HAVE LOVED YOU”.  Does Romans 6 overrule the statement of JESUS?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!   This new law given to Christians is still in effect.

In another Bible lesson that I did on this subject of the Courts of Heaven, I taught a lesson that I learned from my family.  Perhaps you read it.  My natural father was judged and died at a very young age because he did not walk in love and obey this commandment.  If you don’t believe me, that is not my problem because I know it is the truth.  My father did not take advantage of his access to his legal advocate.  He did not confess his sin,  He did not repent or try to change his way.  How, do I know?  Because he died.  He was warned by a man of God to come and see him and talk to him about this issue.  My father did not go and he died 3-4 months later.  My father was a Christian, a graduate of two Bible schools, a pastor of 3 different churches and yet he died a young man.  If you believe that this cannot happen to you then that demonstrates Satan’s victory over your mind.

We have clearly shown from the Bible that God has an established  legal system in place now on the earth by His law given through Moses.  We have learned that this law came from Heaven.  I wonder if it was modeled after what already existed?  We can clearly see that God is the author of these laws.  I believe these Words stand for eternity on the earth and in heaven based upon Luke 16:17 alone.

I can still sense resistance in the spiritual realm rejecting this teaching on the application of the law in the New Covenant.  Do you remember what Paul wrote in Romans 13:10?  Paul clearly teaches us that Love is the fulfillment of the law.  In other words when we love our brother on the earth, we will not murder him, steal from him, commit adultery with his wife, lie to him, etc.  Do you see the New Covenant direct connection to the O.T. LAW?  It is right in front of your face just accept it.  If we don’t love, we are breaking the LAW.

I’ll give you another example very quickly that is also very important.  In Ephesians 6:2 Paul very clearly quotes one O.T. Commandment that if we honor our father and mother that this was the first law that promised us a long life on the earth.  Wow, that means if we don’t do this we can die young.  Paul did not teach us that this did not apply to those under grace, no in fact he taught the opposite.  I hope and pray you receive this.

Are you perfect in walking in love?  I know I am not yet.  I am trying my best with the help of the Holy Spirit to improve in this area and I hope you are also.  What I am saying is that we are all still under a new law.  We don’t have to sacrifice animals anymore to atone for our sins because Jesus the Lamb of God was our sacrifice.  But, we are still required in the New Covenant to confess, ask, repent and change for not walking in love. This is true whether you know it or not.  You ignorance of the truth or the law is NOT a legal defense that will stand in God’s Court or on the earth.

So who is the most qualified to defend us against any charge raised against the law of love if not for the creator of the law Himself?  This is just basic logic and I hope and pray that you can see it.  This is why when the Bible calls Jesus my advocate, I feel very confident that I have the best legal advice possible because He is the one that wrote the law that He is defending me from.

We have seen a couple of verses that reveal many legal terms concerning judgments and statutes.  Let’s examine the Bible for scriptures to see if we even need a spiritual legal advocate or not.  We will focus first on the ending White Throne Judgment:

Rev 20:12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

According to the Word of God, the Bible clearly declares a day is coming when the books will be opened before the Supreme Court Judge of the Spiritual World.  This verse also clearly tells us that God keeps records in books of everything that has transpired on the earth.  So everyone who thinks that they have gotten away with things on the earth will be severely disappointed to know they have actually gotten away with nothing.  This verse implies the need for a good advocate and spiritual legal counselor before entering because God is going to judge people whether they want Him to or not.

This verse says that the “dead” were judged from what was recorded in these books according to their works.  The dead is simply a name for people that have never accepted Jesus or they accepted Jesus and turned back to love their old ways more.  A more accurate definition of “being spiritually dead” literally means a person that does not know God and does not have the further opportunity to change to get to know God.  We understand this from the definition of “eternal life” given by Jesus in John 17:3 where Jesus said “This is life eternal that they might know thee the only True God and Jesus Christ who you have sent”.  The antithesis of knowing is not knowing and the opposite of life eternal is death eternal.

Therefore, this Judgement taking place in Revelation 20 is not about saved Christians that have already given their lives to the Advocate.  Also the works mentioned here are of course either positive or negative things said or done in the body.  Maybe you think differently and believe that you can get by on this Judgment Day by your own merits and good things that you have accomplished in your life on the earth.  I’m sure you have never lied, or stolen anything in all of your days on the earth.  I’m sure you have never spoken an evil word about your family or your neighbor.  You have been a perfect example of a man or a woman that we could all look up to.  This would a very self-righteous attitude that I think many believe.  But, Judgment Day will come when these books are opened, then we will all see exactly what was said or done and it will be read for everybody whose names were not found in the Book of Life.  Their works will then be revealed completely on this day.  I think many will be very surprised on when the verdicts are read.

Act 13:39  And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

To be justified is a Greek word that means to be found innocent.  This is clearly a term for a positive judicial verdict from a judge or a jury.  To be justified by my faith in Jesus is what this is verse is speaking of.   We can read this in Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38 for they all say that the just shall live by faith.  Again we see in these verses that those who are justified and found innocent are those that live by the faith of God and what was accomplished by Him in Jesus Christ.

Being found Innocent is the directly opposed positive position for the negative verdict of being found guilty.  Whenever we are found innocent there is no punishment phase of the trial necessary.  An innocent man or woman gets to walk out of the front door of the court house like everyone else.   However, a guilty man or woman is not so blessed or fortunate.  Ok, let’s shift our focus to living as a Christian in the world today.  Are we ever judged?  Many teach that we are not, but that is not what the Bible says:

1Co 11:32  But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

This verse is written to Christians about Christians.  The key point to this verse will be for Christians to not be “condemned” with the world.  By stating it this way God warns us that we still can be condemned with the world.  The term “condemned” means to be found guilty, which represents a judgment against us containing a sentenced punishment for a crime.  This verse compares two radically different types of people; 1) those unsaved people of the world that will be condemned versus 2) Christians who have the potential to overcome the world, the flesh and the devil to not be condemned.  This verse clearly teaches us that Christians can still be judged and corrected by the Judge in heaven.  Notice that this judging is implied to be happening right now in this life before we go to heaven.  That agrees completely with the verse in Revelation 12:10 that I mentioned earlier.  I hope you know this verse.  It is so very important that I want to give it again:

Rev 12:10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Please memorize this verse.  It is a future prophecy that has not yet happened.  When it does occur at the midpoint of the tribulation Satan will be cast out of heaven and loud voice will proclaim salvation for those in the kingdom of God (the Church).  But, notice the end of the verse says the “accuser” (legal opponent in court) of Christian Brothers and Sisters will end.  It also says that it has been going on both day and night up until this point in time.  That is critical to learn.  That means these accusations and judgments are being handed out for someone today, believe it or not.

Therefore, when Christians are judged we can accept the chastening (correction) and confess, ask, repent and turn our course back to holiness or we can still suffer the consequences of our sin and this may result in our early death.  Satan has many ways to gain access into your life.  I can’t name them all.  We are all in need of prayer to ask our Advocate to help show us what is allowing Satan this entrance.  Pray and ask Him.  See what He says and then agree and repent quickly.

I can still sense the opposition to this type of teaching in my spirit. There is so much of the Bible that we do not know that we resist whatever is not pleasant to our itchy ears.  We want an easy life of salvation with no issues or problems.  We don’t want to be warned.  We don’t want to admit guilt or responsibility.   We don’t want to be corrected and told we are wrong and that we must change our ways.  I would strongly suggest that everyone go and read the letters written to the seven churches in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 over and over.  Jesus is speaking to the church and warning them to change, make corrections, repent or else He can blot their names out of the book of life and they can be condemned with the world like we just read in 1 Corinthians 11:32.

Please look up the Greek words in 1 Corinthians 11:32.  The word translated as “judged” can mean “someone is suing you in a court of law”.  Wow, I did not know this 10 years ago.  The Lord has been teaching the body of Christ this and it is eye opening.  There are more legal terms in the Bible than you can possibly imagine.  They are found from Genesis to Revelation.  This verse in 1 Corinthians teaches us that we can be judged in court as a Christian and a correction can be sentenced.  This occurs if we fail to judge our self and make corrections.  If we are hard hearted and refuse correction we may be devoured by our legal adversary (1 Peter 5:8).  I hope you are reading all of these lessons in the series because they are so critical to know before Jesus returns.

CONCLUSION

We can clearly see the need for a spiritual advocate named Jesus Christ by placing our faith in Him now we will miss the Great White Throne Judgment that will occur after the Great Tribulation.  But, we learn in the Bible that there are other trials happening before the tribulation.  These are court cases occurring for Christians because Satan our adversary brings us up before God’s court to accuse us day and night.  God must be fair and just.  God must hear the case if he has legal grounds he must render a verdict.

In every trial the one that is being charged it is always demanded for the accused to plead their guilt or innocence of the accusations being read before them as the trial begins.  I believe very seriously that this is the way judgments are being given out by God even today.  How can we plead our case now in this life?  We find part of the answer in 1 John 1:9 where the Holy Spirit said to the church “If we confess our sins (meaning to agree), He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.  We find another part of the answer in Revelation 12:11:

Rev 12:11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

You may not understand that it is totally dependent upon your faith confession is what Jesus has accomplished for us now that will determine how we will be judged, but this is exactly how the Bible declares.  Verse 10 was speaking of Christians and this verse is no different.  We must “plead the Blood of Jesus” in every court case we are in.  After a charge is brought for the Supreme Judge and you are asked how you plead, answer “I plead the Blood of Jesus”.  According to this statement God also says we will overcome our adversary with His blood and our spoken testimony.   What does that mean?

The Greek word G3141 translated as “testimony” literally means “evidence given in a court of law”.  Can you see the direct connection to a heavenly courtroom?   Why would a Christian need a testimony in God’s Court in addition to the Blood of Jesus?  Many believe the Blood of Jesus is all sufficient and all powerful so that we need nothing else.  Those that believe this truth alone are easily swayed into an extreme teaching of “Universal Salvation” that claims God saves everyone, including Satan.  But, that is not what the Bible teaches us.

No, we are required to speak as a witness in our own defense.  But, I believe that this is done now on the earth and not when we get to heaven.  What you say now determines where you will be after you die physically.

Heb 4:14  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession (confession, testimony).

Heb 10:23  Let us hold fast the profession (confession) of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Why are Christians told to hold fast our professions now?   Why must we have a profession in the first place?   Then what is it that we should be professing right now?   A profession by the Greek definition of this word is a verbal confession.  This word also comes from a Greek root word that means to “promise” or “covenant”.  That begins to make more sense to me.  When a husband and wife get married, they repeat marriage vows where they promise to be faithful to each other.  This is really what these verses are saying to us.   In our marriage covenant to Jesus Christ, we exchange words of promise to covenant together with our God to be faithful to Him.  So our confession by definition is the spoken words that come out of our mouths in this world to covenant with Him.   These are the words that we are told to hold fast to.  In God’s court system in heaven it only matters what you say here in this world and you will not be allowed to speak and say something different up there after you die.  I hope you understand this, for it is very important.

The Bible and Jesus said something that is highly relevant to any judgment trial that will take place.  Jesus said in Matthew 12:37, by your words you are justified and by your words you are condemned.    This is a very clear admission of our own innocence or quilt being a statement that comes from our own mouth today.  Did you know this?  Did you know that God said you will be judged and either convicted or found innocent based upon your own words?   Did you know that Jesus said that what you say right now is what determines your guilt or innocence in His Court in Heaven?   This is what God said and not what I said so either learn to accept it now or be judged by it.  This is why it is important to learn to control what we say now and then to do what God said in this verse in Hebrews to hold fast to our good profession or confession of Christ as our Lord.    I will wrap this lesson up by telling you what Jesus will say on your behalf in court now or on the final Judgment Day if you are a Christian right now.

Mat 10:32  Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Here is a statement that confirms what I have been teaching you from the mouth of God Himself.  This verse clearly says that if you confess Jesus before other men on the earth today, right now, He will confess you before God His Father in heaven.  So again it matters what you say today to what He will say in heaven.  Get it?   Here is another verse that declares this only using different words and descriptive terms:

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Here we can again see that it matters what we say in the world.  God tells us that if we believe in Jesus being raised from the dead and we then “confess” Him to be our Lord, that we would then be saved.  To be saved is the opposite of being condemned or sentenced to death.    These are simple legal terms and profound Bible truths.  To many ignorant critics who believe that God controls everything including our final outcome in eternity, you are just deceived into believing what Satan wants you to believe.  By people not doing what Jesus and the Bible say to do, people seal their fate to a Godless eternity.   Jesus will not be there to defend you if you do not accept Him as your defender here in this life right now.  Learn the legal lessons given to us in the Bible and accept Him as your advocate today, you will be extremely happy that you did later, I promise.

Rev 3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels

God Bless, you all and please share these lessons with all of your friends and relatives.  If you would like to continue reading about God’s Heavenly Legal and Court System please .

Myths about Jesus in the Gospels! PT 2 An Omnipotent Jesus vs. an Anointed Jesus?

(Ver 1.2)  This is Part 2 in the series of advanced Bible Study lessons discovering the real Jesus of the Bible.  These studies also spend time countering the myths of the false Jesus taught in many churches today.  If you have not read the first lesson in the series I might suggest that you go and start with reading “Part 1“.  There are a number of things taught about Jesus from the Bible that are clearly fabricated by Satan to discredit the real Jesus found in the Bible.  In my last lesson on the real Jesus, I discussed a poor Jesus vs. a Jesus with money.  I know I did not fully cover the subject, but I gave you some key scriptures that are very important to note when discussing the subject.  I believe that Satan wants to portray the Jesus of the Bible as a homeless man who owned nothing and then he tries to use this image to imply that the followers of Jesus are never supposed to rise higher than their master the teacher.  So if Jesus owned nothing Christians are supposed to own nothing and I do not follow that religious philosophy simply because that is not the Jesus of the Bible.   I believe there are many scriptures in the Gospels that dispel the fact that Jesus owned nothing and I gave you many of these for your consideration.  Please do not accept anything that I teach without you seeing it in the Bible.  Verify everything that I say using your own Bible to confirm it.  This is the only way that you are insured that someone is not deceiving you.

Today I want to attack another myth taught in many churches using the truth in the Bible.  These churches teach that Jesus came to the earth as God in His full omnipotent Godhead power and they claim that He proved it by demonstrating to us countless miracles and supernatural signs like speaking to the wind and waves and walking on water to name a couple of prominent examples.  I am going to start this discussion with a scripture that you probably do not associate as being important to this subject of Jesus’ omnipotence found in the book of Acts:

Act 10:38  How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

So I will not debate that Jesus was God in the flesh, if you do not know this already you should go read and study your Bible to find this for yourself.  I have written about it in other Bible lessons, if you want to go read them.  This verse in Acts is very clear, yet totally ignored by those who profess an Omnipotent Jesus theology.  Omnipotent means “all powerful” capable of doing anything in His full Godhead strength.  Was this the Jesus of the Bible when he was born in a manger and grew to be a man?  If it was why did God have to anoint Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and Power?  This verse implies that if God had not anointed Jesus, he would not have been able to heal anyone.  It clearly says that it is the spiritual anointing power that healed the people and not the man Jesus of Nazareth.  If Jesus is God in the full manifestation of omnipotence there is no need for any anointing, is there?  If you do not see this, you do not know how to read.  It just isn’t that difficult to see.

Do you know what “Christ” means?  Jesus is called the “Christ” in the Bible.  This is the Greek word for a Hebrew word translated as “Messiah” in the Old Testament.  Do you know what “Christ” means?  What is the definition of the word “Christ”.  This word “Christ” means “anointed”, to rub or smear with oil.  When David was anointed to be King by Samuel he poured oil over David’s head (1 Sam 16:13).  This was an outward symbolic representation for an internal spiritual process that was taking place.  This is also what happened to Jesus.  Do you remember when Jesus was baptized in the river Jordan by John the Baptist and the Holy Spirit in the form of Dove descended from heaven? (Mat 3:16)  This was God anointing Jesus of Nazareth the man with the Spirit of God and Power that we just read about in Acts 10.  So why was it necessary for God to descend from Heaven if the Spirit of God was already in the body of Jesus in full omnipotent power?  I hope you are seeing the problem with the erroneous teaching of many ignorant people in the church.  Let’s verify this belief based upon the words of Jesus himself:

Luk 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Here we have Jesus speaking to the people in the temple.  Jesus opens the scroll and finds the place it is written about Him in Isaiah 61:1 and He begins to read.  “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me”.  In this verse Jesus is claiming using prophecy what we just observed in the Baptism of John.  This claim was given that the Holy Spirit had descended upon him from the heavens in the form of a dove to rest.  Jesus is very clearly stating that God has anointed him to do certain things and He begins to list these things that He is anointed by God to do.  So if Jesus could do everything using full omnipotent deity power, Jesus must have lied and He did not need to read a verse about being anointed, does He?   I thought God could do anything, especially an omnipotent God in full Godhead power.  I hope you are beginning to see the falsity of what many try to teach you on the internet and in some churches.  It is absolutely critical to see and understand the real Jesus so that you can understand the real you.  God used this anointing power throughout the Old and New Testaments to give His power to men.  God still anoints people to do things today in the world.  But, my lesson is not about God’s anointing on us, it is about why it was necessary for God to anoint Jesus so let’s continue.

There are many things in the Bible that are difficult to explain with a single lesson because there are more than one inter-related subjects to also discuss or we do not understand what is being taught.  In the Gospels we find that Jesus went around and healed many people but, what was the “determining factor” for why some got healed and some did not.  First let me ask you did you know that Jesus did not heal everyone that was sick?  I will prove this to you as I go.  Was it God’s choice on who to heal and who to leave sick, lame and crippled or was there other factors involved that we do not yet understand?  The Bible says very clearly that God does not show “favoritism”.

Lev 19:15  Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

Act 10:34  Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

Jas 2:9  But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

Does God ask people to do things that God does not do Himself?  I don’t think so, if it is a sin to respect one person over and above another, then God commits sin if he heals one person and does not heal another.  So we clearly have a problem, when reading the Gospels, since Jesus did not heal everyone.  So there must be another factor that can explain this situation and not leave us confused.  Do you recall when Jesus was walking in Mark 5 with one of the rulers of the synagogue named Jairus?   Jesus was on the way to his house to heal his daughter and there was a very large crowd of people following Jesus and touching Him.  In this chapter is an incredible story within a story.  Why is everyone touching Jesus on every side?  Was Jesus just a man with rock star status to them or were they all after the healing Power that Jesus told everyone that He was anointed with?  You are going to have to make up your own mind why people are touching Jesus, because the Bible does not directly tell us.  However, while everyone is touching Him and He is walking to the house of the sick girl, a woman with an issue of blood comes up and forces her way through the crowd and touches the hem of His garment.  Jesus stops and turns and asks a very funny question for an omnipotent and omniscient God to ask, “Who touched me?”.  Was this a blunder by Jesus or did He not know who it was that touched Him after all the disciples said “Master the crowd is touching you on every side”.   In other words the disciples see people touching Jesus everywhere, but they did not understand what just happened and only Jesus and this one woman knew what just transpired.  However it is clear that Jesus felt the power leave but did not know where the power went based upon the question.

So I am going to make a longer story a shorter story for the sake of time.  The woman with the issue of blood feels the power of God go into her and heal her and Jesus feels the power of God go from Him and heal her, and yet Jesus does not know who it is that got healed.  Why is this?  It only make sense if you understand the Bible correctly, otherwise it is just a point of confusion.  Jesus we have seen was anointed by God with the Holy Ghost and Power (Acts 10:38).  Jesus told us that the Holy Ghost had anointed Him in Luke 4:18.  We also saw the Holy Ghost descend upon Jesus like a dove in Matthew 3:16.  So we have 3 witnesses that say that Jesus was anointed with the Spirit of God.  So Jesus had the power of God clearly upon Him with the anointing.  But what was it that caused one woman in the crowd of hundreds to receive this power while the others did not?  That is a very important question to understand the answer to.  Fortunately Jesus gives us the answer:

Mar 5:34  And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

Jesus gives us the answer to the million dollar question of why this woman received her healing and the hundreds of others who touched Him did not.  Jesus said that the determining factor was her “faith”.  So now we have a new problem what is “faith” and why did she have it and the others did not.  Since that is not my primary subject, I’m not going to get into that fully in this lesson today.  What I want you to see is that yes Jesus had Anointed Power, but that this power was only accessed by one woman with her individual “faith”.  So apparently it was not all up to sovereign God in what happens in the world, is it?

My primary subject today is the myths concerning Jesus’ deity power, so I’m going to continue with teaching on this line of thought and leave “faith” to another day.  I told you earlier that Jesus did not heal everyone and we clearly saw an example of this with the crowds touching Him in Mark 5 with only one woman getting healed.  So now I’m going to show you a much stronger witness to the fact that Jesus was not God in His omnipotent power on the earth.  If you continue reading in the book of Mark you will find starting in chapter 6 verse 1 that Jesus is said to come into his own country.  This is the home of Jesus, the place where He lives in a house like I showed you in the last lesson in this series.  He enters into the synagogue and begins to teach the people and the people automatically begin to question, him saying where did He get this wisdom?   You see all of these people saw Jesus grow up and watched Him from a time of a child and knew Him and his family intimately.  Why is Jesus teaching the people?  I think people who do not understand “faith” don’t understand that before healing comes, teaching comes first.  Jesus would always teach the people from the Bible, that God has anointed Him to heal and if they believed it, they could be healed and if they did not believe it they could remain as they were.

Mar 6:4  But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

Jesus is the prophet in this verse that is without honor in his home city.  The people were too intimately familiar with Jesus and His natural life to allow the new “anointing” to work.  These people let the old natural Jesus influence who He was to them today.  Little did they know that this was the Messiah spoken of in their Bible.  These people let their ignorance rob them of the blessings of God.  They did not know He was born in Bethlehem and they did not know His father was God.  They just assumed they knew him and they made the wrong conclusions.  This is one of the greatest danger that many people face today.  I see this attitude in and out of church.

Mar 6:5  And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

The Bible does not say that Jesus would not do any mighty works there; it literally says it was impossible for Jesus to do any mighty supernatural healings in this setting.  In other words, no blind people came again seeing, no crippled people walked again, no deaf people could hear, nothing occurred but Jesus laying His hands on a few minor sick people to be healed.  So obviously the Omnipotent Jesus was on vacation during this chapter of the Gospels or people just ignore the real Jesus to make up their fictitious version of Him.  You can clearly see that Jesus was not omnipotent in this verse or He would have been able to heal everyone regardless of what they believed.

Mar 6:6  And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

When Jesus saw their unbelief He was amazed.  So what is the opposite of “faith” that got the woman healed in the chapter before this one?  You can see that the woman with the issue of blood believed what she heard and these people in the Jesus home town did not believe.  That is probably the most important thing that I will teach today, but that is not my primary subject, so I will continue.

What I have demonstrated to you is a version of Jesus that the Bible depicts as being the real “Emanuel” God with Us!  This was a man who was God, but clearly was not God in His full Godhead power.   Do you understand that it would be impossible to kill the man Jesus if He was here in His full Godhead power?    If Jesus was the omnipotent God in person on this planet no would have been able to crucify Him and no one would be saved today.  It is very clear to me that God stripped Himself of His divine powers when He choose to manifest on the earth as a human being like you and I.  I am going to end this lesson on this note about the resurrection of Jesus.  Did you know that after Jesus was raised from the dead He never did any more supernatural signs or wonders here on the earth?  Jesus walked the planet after being raised from the dead for nearly 40 days and never did one single supernatural act to prove His divine nature.   I mean why didn’t Jesus appear to everyone that just crucified Him and say look I told you so?  You see after Jesus was raised from the dead He was again the omnipotent God.  But then He told His disciples “that all power in both heaven and in the earth had been given to him”(Mat 28:18).  So why is it that people teach that Jesus already had all power before He was crucified if Jesus said it was given to Him after being raised from the dead?  Can’t you read and see that Jesus said this power wasn’t fully given to Him until after He was raised from the dead?  You cannot have it both ways!  Jesus had to be a man with human limitations before the crucifixion and then the power was returned back to Him after His resurrection or you just have to ignore more parts of the Bible that do not agree with your ridiculous fantasy.  If Jesus had all power before His crucifixion then there is nothing to give to Him after His resurrection and Jesus is a liar.   Wow, I don’t know if you really understand the things I teach or not, but it would be great if you did!  God Bless!

If you would like to continue reading in this series of lessons about the Myths of Jesus in the church you may proceed to “Part 3“.

Myths about Jesus in the Gospels? A Rich Jesus vs. a Poor Jesus?

(Ver 1.3)  This is Part 1 in a series of advanced Bible lessons on “Myths taught about Jesus” in the modern church.  There are a number of things taught from the Bible that are clearly fabricated by the devil to discredit the identity and character of the real Jesus of the Bible.  By portraying a fictional Jesus, Satan can keep the church from seeing, seeking and following the examples of the true Jesus.  For example, it is widely preached and taught in many churches that Jesus was a very, very poor man and did not own anything of value.  However, is this really what the Bible teaches us or is this just what Satan wants you to think so that he can keep you poor in the world today?   What advantage does Satan gain by portraying a poor Jesus to the church?  I believe that as long as Christians think Jesus was poor they will follow in his example to remain the  same.  Poor Christians are ineffective and unable to be a blessing to others and therefore very harmless to Satan or even to help the lost unsaved people under his control.  Satan desires every Christian to take a vow of poverty to go and live in common dwelling community with others in the same way.  In doing this they are unable to feed the poor or help preach the Gospel to the world on the outside.  Poor nations are the same type of pattern in this world as poor Christians.  This is very evident in the displayed wealth distribution of the nations as studied on the internet.  Only the richer strong nations can be a factor to effect any positive change to any other nation that needs help.  The poorest nations are the ones that are found the homeless, starving people that are begging for the other nations to come and help them.  This is why Satan causes many churches to promote a false Mother Theresa type of sainthood thinking it to be the perfect model type of a real Christian.  There are just too many churches that promote a vow of poverty philosophy and somehow believe that this self-imposed vow of suffering makes their people more pious or worthy of being saved.  However, I’ve got bad news for you, if Mother Theresa would have had 5 billion dollars to help poor people she would have been much more effective and reached so many that she was never able to reach.  Bill Gates helps more poor people than Mother Theresa will ever dream of.  There is just no substitute for having money in this world to help and bless other people.  Of course money without knowing God is completely worthless.   I am not a prosperity preacher or teacher.  I hardly mention money on my website and I never ask you to send me anything.  Therefore, do not put me into a category of any other stereotyped Bible teacher.  I simply like to look for what the Bible says and then teach that regardless of the message.  If the Bible said that Jesus was poor then that is exactly what this lesson would be about.  How about we just find out what God says in His Word and believe that.  Can we just do that?

If you do not have any money or do not work to earn any money then you are living in poverty and usually called a beggar that is seeking and asking churches, charities, relatives, other people or the government for a free helping handout just to eat and to survive.  Is that what Jesus did?  Can you search the gospels and ever find Jesus begging from anyone?  I mean try to find it and then tell me where it is.  There are at the minimum two different ways to learn from the Bible.  You can learn from what the Bible directly says or you can learn from what it does not directly say.  If the Bible does not teach us that Jesus begged then why would you think that you should beg?  This type of baseless poverty Jesus teaching would be very much like teaching since the Bible never teaches us that Jesus went to the bathroom, we must all not go to the bathroom and hold it to be like Him.   No this is the  challenge of resolving our ignorance to allow us to become realistic in our beliefs to see what the Bible actually says about how Jesus never begged for anything and then find out how that applies to us.  So I want to take you through some scriptures in the Bible and show you some new perspectives on some things that should hopefully permit you to find and see the real Jesus of the Bible.  You will soon find that this real Bible Jesus was not a poor man who owned nothing.  Please let me show you in the Bible:

Mat 2:11  And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

There are many verses in the Bible that I could start with, but I’ll start with this one in Matthew about the men from the east coming to visit baby Jesus after He was born.  If you read you will find that these men traveled a great distance because they had seen His star in the east and they followed it to where Jesus was.  Most Christma manger scenes have Jesus being born in a stable in Bethlehem with the animals that were present and they have the wise men coming to the manger with their gifts.  However, did you notice in this verse in Matthew 2:11 that these men came to see Jesus in a house?  There was no manger in this verse or the context.  Apparently from this information we can see that Jesus at the very least was a child who lived in a house with his mother and father.  So far this is not a homeless and destitute poor Jesus that we have been taught, is it?  Next did you notice what these men brought to Jesus?  It says they brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.  That does not sound like a poor Jesus either?  So if men traveled a great distance to see a newborn king, would they have brought small insignificant trivial gifts or large extravagant gifts fit for a living king?  What would impress the family?  If you do not believe me try taking a wrothless gift to the queen of England and see how it is received.  You are foolish not to believe a gift for a king has to be great.  Therefore, I do not think that Jesus was either homeless or poor as a child growing up; I hope you can see what the Bible says also.

Let’s shift gears to the older Jesus and see what the Bible says about the men that Jesus chose to hang around with.  One of the key men that Jesus personally selected was a man called Peter.  Peter was a key figure and we can learn a lot about him in the Bible.  Peter was married, a fisherman with his brother and he lived in and owned a house:

Mat 8:14  And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.

So reading about Peter in the Bible we can clearly see that Peter was a businessman who made a living and had a job and thus was not homeless or a man of poverty.  Jesus came into Peter’s house and healed his mother-in-law.  So the house was large enough to accomodate more than just his wife.  Jesus did not pick men who were homeless and poor to associate with, so why do people think Jesus was homeless and poor?  Somehow it makes people feel good on the inside to think that Jesus had nothing, owned nothing to depended upon others for everything that He needed.  This is exactly how Satan wants you to envision your Jesus so that you will never rise above the level of His poor example.

So do you think that Jesus ever owned a physical house and dwelling place?   Some place where He lived for three years?  An actual building called a home built with walls, windows, doors and a roof, in some city?  If not then where would our Jesus live, sleep, eat or rest?  Does He just sleep outdoors on the ground?  Does He beg to sleep in other people’s houses?  Maybe He just slept in someone’s barn.  I do not know why people like to think that Jesus went from place to place sleeping under the stars for at least three years?  Remeber that the ministry duration of Jesus was somewhere near three years of time.  I cannot only assume that people read the Bible with dark goggles on so they do not have to see what is actually written there.  They have created a Jesus in their minds and are quite content with keeping Jesus in their cramped little box of limitations.  You would truly be amazed at what the Bible actually says if you would open your eyes and see it!  Let me give you a verse found in Matthew to start with:

Mat 9:1  And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.

What does it mean if Jesus crosses over in a boat in order to get to His “own city”?  It sounds like that was Jesus’ hometown, doesn’t it?  The term “own” is a possessive pronoun and this town was the town that Jesus lived in and possibly even owned a home in.  If I called you on the phone and you were my friend and I said “I’m back in town”, you know from that statement that I was gone from town but that I have now returned back home.  So did you know that Jesus had his own city to return to?  Well I’m about to show you some additional verses that will help us confirm this reality:

Mar 2:1  And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

Capernaum was a seaside city on the north end of the Sea of Galilee, thus Jesus entered back into the city by boat as we just read about in Matthew.  This verse in the book of Mark says there went out rumors spreading everywhere that Jesus was in the house.  Uh oh?  Further, notice that these rumors took several days to be spread, so Jesus has been in this house for at least that length of time.  Whose house was this?  Who did this house belong?  That sounds pretty bad for the poor homeless Jesus proponents and teachers.  If you knew I was gone out of town and drove by my house, could you tell when I got back home?  More than likely you could!  However, in Jesus’ day you could not just drive into town incognito unless you walked in, in the middle of the night when everyone else was asleep.  So according to this verse Jesus comes to Capernaum in a boat and people see Him arrive and start spreading the word to all of their friends that “Jesus is home”.  To be “In the house” you have to logically conclude that this was Jesus’ house that they are talking about, otherwise which house  in a city of hundreds or even thousands of houses are they speaking of?  You just cannot say that Jesus is in the house if you do not already know which one it is!  So far this is just very basic simiple logic reached by observing what is stated in the Bible, it is not that difficult, but admittedly it can be easily explained away for those who refuse to see it.

Mar 2:2  And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

So technically speaking it does not say this house belongs to Jesus, but then again it does not say that it doesn’t either.  If you read the context there is no mention of any owner and I believe that is very important to note.  So we have to use our brains in order to figure out the truth.  Jesus is in a house and a large number of people hear that Jesus is present to be found there and they just happened to show up automatically at just the right house.  How do all of these people know which house if this is not Jesus’ house?  Uh oh?  Here we have another problem for those who want to believe in a poor homeless Jesus.  No this verse says so many people showed up, that they could get anyone else in the house, so they had to stand outside the door to hear His words.  Then there comes 4 more men carrying a lame friend to get Jesus to heal him.  How did these 5 men know what house to come to and why were they there?  When they arrived at the house they could easily look at the house and all of the people knowing, yes Jesus is in the house.  I conclude formthis that they knew He was home again because we can soon see that they were going to do whatever it took to get their friend healed.

Mar 2:4  And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

You see here is the major problem that I have discovered about this story in the Bible.  If this was my house that I owned and Jesus was just visiting with me for a few days and four idiots come tearing a huge hole in my roof what would you have done to stop them from tearing up your house?  Do you know there is no mention that anyone was upset that 4 guys just tore a big hole in the roof to lower their buddy down in?  I find that omission totally fascinating to say the least.  To me the lack of anyone complaining just confirms that Jesus the healer was in His own house and He did not mind when He saw these men’s faith to get their friend healed.  That is the only logical explanation of how everybody knew where Jesus was and why no one cared when the house was broken into and modified with a huge new sky light large enough to lower a crippled man.  Let’s read down now in the same chapter and see what else Jesus does in his home city.

Mar 2:14  And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

Jesus is said to be walking in His city again and finds a man named Levi and tells Levi to “follow me”.  Right there let’s analyze that statement; if Jesus wanted to go to Levi’s house would Jesus have said “follow me”?  To me Jesus would have said “let’s go to your house and I’ll follow you”.  Things in the Bible need to make sense when we read them.  The verses present us with limited factual information and we are required to read the facts and use the information to make a determination of what is stated.   L’et’s read the following verse and see what is said next:

Mar 2:15  And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.

Hopefully you can see my problem?  Whose house is Jesus now eating in?  Did Jesus lead Levi to Levi’s house expecting Levi to feed everyone?  Or did Jesus take Levi to Jesus’ house and there they all sat and ate together.  The phrase “his house” is one that must be directed at Jesus and not at Levi since Levi is never mentioned in this verse.  But, you see we could easily take this verses either way and almost be right.  However, only one way is right and the other was must be wrong.  Two truths can never exist from one statement.  Did you notice how many people were present?  Did you notice all of the disciples and Jesus were present and we know Levi was also there if he followed Jesus and now we can read that publicans and sinners were also there.  That really sounds like a big group and not a small house at all.

Mar 2:16  And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

So poor Jesus proponents and teachers have more problems to try to explain away.  I’ll start by asking you how did the Scribes and the Pharisees know where Jesus was eating?  Are they following Jesus around?  From my current understanding of Bible history the city of Capernaum was not a tiny 4 or 5 house community.  It must have had a significant population with many families and houses in it.   We can clearly see from this information that Jesus was eating in a house with a lot of people being present and while others simultaneously watching him and knowing where He was located.  From what I have just read, I am convinced that Jesus was a man who owned a house in the city of Capernaum and that many people knew Him and exactly where He lived.   This is really the only explanation that makes sense of how people kept finding Jesus in a big city.  You of course have the option to remain ignorant and believe whatever you like.

Mar 6:4  But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

If you read the Bible like you want to believe that Jesus was homeless you have to ignore a lot of the Bible to establish that belief.  In this verse Jesus is speaking and He says some very profound words.  Jesus was the Prophet that He is talking about in this verse.  Did you know that Jesus was a prophet?  The prophet’s office was just one position that He held, but nevertheless that is one title that He called Himself.  This Prophet was said to have no honor among the people who knew Him personally.  These people were His neighbors and relatives who knew Him and knew where He lived.  These were the people who recognized Him when He walks down the street.  These were the people who can see when He enters into the house where He lives and they knew exactly which house it was.  These were the people who look at Jesus as being a regular human like them.  Because the do not know Him as the Son of God, they hold no place of honor for Him in their heart because He appears to be exactly as they were in every way.  To be exactly like them meant that He works, He eats, He sleeps, He goes to the bathroom and He lives in a house just like they did.  Do you understand these basic things?  They do not see Jesus with a halo around His head and they do not see Jesus walking above the ground where He does not leave any footprints.  Jesus was not surrounded with angels.  His faced did not glow.  Jesus looked normal, acted normal and lived normally.  Jesus was a man in complete normalcy like everyone else in appearance.  Furthermore Jesus himself just spoke some words and said that He owned a house.  Did you notice that?  The Greek word G3614 translated as “house” literally means a residence.  The inclusion of a personal pronoun of “own” before the noun house (residence) conveys ownership responsibility and is directly associated to the speaker of the words and that was clearly Jesus.

Mat 12:46  While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

Here is another very interesting verse that I found about Jesus.  Jesus is in a house talking with some people and suddenly His mother and His half-brothers suddenly appear asking to talk to Him standing outside of the house.  If this is not Jesus’ house where He lived, how do these close relatives know where to find Him?  You can clearly see the difficulty that I have with people’s interpretation that says Jesus did not own a house.  If His mothers and His brothers could come to exactly where He was and request a meeting, they had to know where to go.  Jesus instead of going to speak to his natural family looked around the room and said those that do the will of my Father, you are my mother, my sister and and brother and then a couple of verses later you will read this:

Mat 13:1  The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

Again, we have to conclude that Jesus owned this house that He keeps being associated with near the sea.  If Jesus is seen exiting a house and sitting by the sea, we know this is Jesus’ house in Capernaum that He is seen leaving from.  There are certainly many more verses like these that I could go through to show you that Jesus did own a house, but I will leave it at that.  It really doesn’t matter if you show people two verses or forty verses, if they do not want to see the truth, they will always ignore whatever you give them.  Let’s change the subjecvt from houses to moeny and see another perspective of Jesus.

I want you to think about this, did Jesus ever have any money?  We know there was one case in the Bible that says when Jesus was forced to pay taxes that He told Peter to go to the sea and catch a fish and use that money in the fish’s mouth to pay the tax.  So stories like that are used by people to promote a poor Jesus who did not carry money around with Him.  But, did you know that the disciple Judas was said to be the treasurer for Jesus and the other disciples (John 13:29)?  Do you need a treasurer if you have no money?  In fact if you search and can read the Bible, you will find out that Judas was a thief and he was able to steal money from Jesus and the disciples without anyone else knowing it (John 12:6).  Did you know if Jesus only had a little bit of money and Judas took a little bit of it out, it wouldn’t be easily missed?  But, if Jesus had a whole bunch of money in the bag and Judas slowly took out a little here and a little bit there, it would never be missed by anyone?  So to me using this story of Judas alone we discover that Jesus did carry large sums of money so a little bit is never missed.  Let me show you another story in the Bible about this large sum of money that Jesus and the disciples carried around with them:

Mar 6:36  Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.

We have an interesting story of many people following Jesus in the wilderness.  In the Bible verse before this one it says that it is very late in the day and the disciples come to Jesus and ask Him to send the people away so that they can still make it home to get something to eat.  However, Jesus had a different lesson to teach them and said this:

Mar 6:37  He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

Jesus tells the disciples to get all of the people something to eat and since there were thousands of them, the disciples ask Him a very strange question for poor homelss men.  If these disciples did not have in their possession 200 pennies to buy this bread they would have said let’s go take up a collection so that we can go buy them some bread.  But, they did not say that did they?  They asked Jesus, do you want us to go and spend 200 pennies to buy all of these people bread to eat?  The Bible tells us that there were approximately 5000 men in this group and we know these men had wives and children so there could have been 15000 people there around Jesus.  Let me ask you this question, what would it cost you if you took 15000 people to McDonald’s and bought them all a burger?  It would take a whole bunch of money to feed that many people.  So why would the poor disciples ask Jesus if He wanted them to go and buy food for all of them, if they did not already have the money to do it?  You see that would really be a stupid question to ask wouldn’t it.  The disciples were not stupid and they were not poor either so get over it and see what the Bible says about money.  The disciples had enough money on them to feed everyone, but still there were no bread stores in the wilderness to buy this food, so Jesus goes with His original plan of multiplying the loaves and fishes of a boy’s lunch.  The discipiles could have solved the problem in a natural way, but Jesus was teaching them a supernatural method of supply.

I’ll end today’s leson with one more example of how Jesus was not a poor man.  When Jesus was crucified it tells us that there were some soldiers who divided up what Jesus was wearing.  Since Jesus was hanging on the cross naked about to die, He would have no further need of any of the items and the guards saw a great opportunity to profit:

Joh 19:23  Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

Jesus was wearing a seamless coat that was woven in one piece from top to bottom it says.  You probably do not understand the significance to that statement.  It means His coat was very valuable.  This was the coat of a wealthy man, a king or someone of great status in the city or country.  Not everyone possessed a coat such as this, because it took a lot of money to buy one.  Evidently if Jesus was poor where did He obtain such a piece of clothing?  Someone tried to tell me that this valuable robe was the garment placced upon him by Pilate, but if you go read closely that robe was not a gift but a temporary robe placed to mock Him (Mat 27:31).  This royal mocking robe was removed after the mocking and it did not go to the cross.  Thefore, the coat that the soldiers were gambling over had to have been owned by Jesus.

Joh 19:24  They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

You see the soldiers recognized the value of the coat and said let’s not tear it up!  Let us gamble for it so that one of us can use it like it is.  For the soldiers to gamble for something that is worthless would be illogical or foolish; so they had to know that the coat was a very valuable item and something that they could not afford even with their salaries from the Roman Empire.  This information about Jesus does not go along with the Mother Theresa type of poor Jesus that many people want to follow.  There are many other Bible verses that I failed to mention, but I gave you enough references to get you to think and hopefully change your poverty mentality away from the poor Jesus to change it to the real Jesus.  You see I do not believe that Jesus was Bill Gates or Warren Buffet while on the earth.  However, I also do not believe that Jesus went about as a homeless man in absolute poverty either.  You can see too many examples of Jesus beginning with His birth all the way to His death and never is it said that He was poor.  Jesus is portrayed in the Bible as being more in the range of an upper middle class man and never a poor homeless man in the Bible.  I hope that you can see it with your own eyes and definitely spend more time reading the Gospels for the real Jesus.  Thanks for taking the time to read and study the Bible and if you have any questions or comments you are welcome to share them.  God Bless!

Names, Titles, Descriptions and Symbols of Jesus in the Bible

Jesus_Is(ver 2.3)  This is Part 1 in a series of reference documents about the multiple Names, Titles, Descriptions and Symbols of named Spiritual Individuals in the Bible.  This document will focus only on the subject verses concerning Jesus found in the Bible.  It is not designed to teach anything other than give you a place to search from to find references to Jesus in the Bible.  This is a living document of references and it will change and be updated as I am led to additional scriptures.  A Name is a direct reference to the individual.  A Title is a given direct identifying appellation signifying status or function.  A Description is something that represents the individual in expressive words.  A Type is a real named person, place or thing that can be viewed to apply to a pattern of the spiritual individual not directly named.  A Symbol is a natural object that describes the characteristics or features of a spiritual being that you cannot see or understand without first understanding the symbol.  Here is what Jesus said to us about himself:

Joh 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

We know from what Jesus just said that the Bible is primarily about him, but you cannot find him directly named until the Gospels.  However he was indirectly mentioned in almost every chapter of the Old Testament.  I will give you a list of my references to Jesus in the Bible and if you have others that I have not found yet, please let me know about them.

The TOP 10 Reasons Jesus Christ Came into the World?

(Ver 1.4)  Many times we study the Bible and only see one perspective, because that is where our focus is.   Our minds, our preconceived thoughts and prejudices  can cause us to miss what the Bible actually says.   People’s Bible study approach is very much like my approach to proof reading my blogs.  Many times I type what I think I should say, but when I go back and reread it a few days later, it turns out what I typed was not actually what I had originally intended.   Also, many times my typing errors are missed, because I read what I thought I typed and not what it actually says.   All this does is prove that people can look right at the words written on a page and still not ever tell what they exactly said or meant.  Students in school prove this everyday with their textbooks.   This is why I believe that many times people do not see what the Bible actually says either.  They see what they think it says and ignore what it actually says and they end up missing what God wanted to teach them in the frist place..

I have already blogged on the fact that Jesus Christ was God in the flesh.   God purposely becoming a man can cause many people to stumble.  The Creator becoming a part of His creation, that just boggles many people’s minds.   However, God did this and you either have to accept it or choose to reject it by your onw freewill.  Today I want to discuss some of the top reasons that I have found, why God did this.   What does God and the Bible say, were the top reasons for God’s personal appearance on this planet?   If you think it was just for one reason, you would be greatly mistaken.  God rarely does only one thing at a time for a single threaded purpose or plan.   God is a highly complex and intelligent being that can accomplish many things with one simple act.  We just have to be smart enough to read and find out what these were and then why God said that He came to visit us.  While I do not profess to know every reason I will give at least 10 of the top reasons that I have discovered from the Bible.

1.  To Die

I believe the number one reason why Jesus came to the earth and was born a human man, was so that he could die.   Did you know that it is impossible to kill God?   God is a supreme spiritual power and it is impossible to eliminate God from existence.   But, that does not mean that God as a man could not die a normal physical death.  It is pretty obvious that Jesus proved that after hanging on the cross.  When Jesus said it is finished, He fulfilled His number 1 purpose for coming into the world.  His death accomplished more than you can imagine right now, but read this verse:

Heb 2:9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of Jesus, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Jesus Christ was born a human male on the earth so that he could taste death for all of us.  The Bible says that it is appointed unto every man, once to die (Heb 9:27).   In becoming a man we can clearly see that God did not intend for Jesus the man to live on the earth forever or to set up a natural kingdom or rule in this dimension of time.   God specifically came to the earth in a very temporary capacity, on purpose with the set goal to die after 33 years of being present as a man.  Death is also a separating force that terminates covenants.  You can learn this by reading the words of Ruth, when she says “Until death separates me from thee”.   If God wants to die on the earth, you can conclude that He wants to end whatever covenants that He was previously tied to.   I know that is not a popular teaching, but it is a logical deduction based upon the facts established in the Bible.  You do realize that the living mortal man Jesus of Nazareth did not establish a New Covenant with anyone while He was here in His mortal physical state?   You see the New Covenant was implemented by the risen from the dead Jesus Christ.   The Risen Jesus is now an immortal and omnipotent spiritual being and only He can implement a new eternal covenant that never existed before.  This is a fact that you rarely hear taught in church.   Jesus Christ is the first born from the dead and the heir of everything (Heb 1:2).   What is an heir?   An Heir is only someone who inherits what someone who died has left.  Uh oh?   Who died?  What was left?  Who are the heirs?  You see why the Bible is so difficult to understand for most people?  The Bible is more complex than most understand.

2.  To Save Sinners

I believe the number two reason Jesus came to this planet in a physical form was so that He could save us.  We of course are like everyone else and we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23).  Even though we are not really worthy of salvation, God chose to save us anyway.  I have heard many people in the world say we just want what we are deserved.   In other words in their minds the government owes them something and they deserve to get it all just because they belong in this country.   That is an attitude that is based upon pride and error.   You do not want what you are deserved, you are far better off asking for mercy.

1Ti 1:15  This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Sin was a separating force from the righteousness of God.   God had to do something with the sin problem of man, if we ever were to have any hope.  God does this by becoming the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).   God’s own personal blood was shed to pay the price for our sin.   The Bible says without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin (Heb 9:22).  It also goes on to say that the blood of natural bulls and goats cannot take away the sins of the world.   So it required a higher price and only the blood of God Himself could satisfy this price.

3.  To Save That Which Was Lost

This reason I will probably not be able to elaborate on fully in this lesson.  Many will read this next verse that I give and think that it is talking about the previous reason, but I do not personally think that is what Jesus was talking about.  Jesus did tell us that He was sent to the lost sheep of the House of Israel (Mat 15:24).  So we do understand that people are spoken of in the Bible as being lost.  What I think is that it was more than that, which Jesus was talking about in this next verse.

Luk 19:10  For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Did you notice that this verse does not say, “Those Who Were Lost”?  Why is that important?  Why is that necessary to see?  What was lost?   What must be saved?  Many just think we the people were what was lost and that is the only thing that God came here to save.  That of course is a very narrow minded focus on what God is capable of doing.  Let me answer these questions by asking you a question.   Why is it necessary for God to create a new heaven and a new earth?  You should really give that some serious thought before you try to answer that question.  Could it be that is what was lost?   I only buy a new car because something happened to my old car, either a wreck, or just old age and it died.   Some people trade cars like they buy new underwear or socks, but God is not this way.   You have to realize that there is a major problem with the old, if God implements a new anything.  I mean think about it, can’t God ever create anything that lasts?   Is He not God?   It would appear that something happens to the old heaven and the old earth that causes God to create a new physical and spiritual realm.  So I do not deny that people are also lost.  In 2nd Corinthians 4:3 it says “If our gospel is hid, it is hid to them that are lost”.  But, this word can mean “destroyed” or “perishing”.   So while you could say people are lost, you actually find this statement:

Col 1:20  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

You see you can find more scriptures about people having been reconciled back to God in the New Testament than you can find scriptures that speak about people being lost.

Rom 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

So the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ’s death is that we have been reconciled back in right relationship with God.  I think I will leave the rest of this discusion to a future lesson on the subject.

4.  For The Resurrection of the Dead

God told Adam, not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and said that in the day that you do, you will surely die.   That of course represents the poor choice that Adam made that perpetuated death upon the entire human race.   Death ruled man, man feared death, death is an enemy to man and God came to solve the problem of death.  Here is a scripture verse that helps us to see this:

1Co 15:21  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

Jesus Christ is called the “Last Adam” and because the first Adam brought death into the world, Jesus was able to come as a second man to end death’s domination over us.  You see death was a separating force that kept us from God because of Sin.     Adam sinned and sold himself into the bondage of sin and Christ came and paid the cost for our redemption with His blood.  It is an awesome work of God that He has accomplished.  The immortal God becomes mortal and dies so that the mortal men and women in the world can become immortal and live with Him forever.  It’s all a part of God’s great exchange offer.  Exchange your life for His life and you become the winner!

5.  To Undo the Works of the Devil

I hope that you do understand who the devil is?  I hope you also understand that Satan is not on God’s payroll and does not work for God.  You see God has the power to tell Satan what to do, but yet is this the way God is?   Is God pulling all of the strings in heaven and causing everything in the world to happen exactly like He wants it to happen?  You see I do not think so.   You do understand that the Sovereign God is able to give man “freewill” by His choice and design?  If you do not understand that man has a “freewill” you do not understand that it was you that chose to get out of bed this morning and not God.  If you think that God controls what you do every day, then you need to come to understand the Bible with greater clarity.  Let’s keep going and look at what the Bible says about Satan:

Heb 2:14  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

1Jn 3:8  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Both of these verses speak of God attempting to “destroy” the devil or the works of the devil.  Why would this be necessary, if God is in control of the devil already?  You see the problem that some seminaries teach, don’t you?  The term “destroy” does not mean to obliterate into non-existence as you would think it does.   It means to “loosen”, “dissolve”, “undo” or  “reverse” the actions of the devil.   In other words Jesus came to undo the consequences of something that Satan directly caused.  I hope you understand the concept of “cause” and “effect” found within the physical sciences.  I think I first learned this concept in a High School Physics class, that every effect that we can observe always has a root cause.  For example, when you see waves in a pond, you can deduce that something was thrown into the pond to cause the waves.  It is not a hard concept to grasp.  What you have to ask yourself is what were the effects of Satan’s work that God had to come personally to reverse?  This is a tough question to answer in this lesson, so we will continue on.

6.  Jesus Came and Died, So that the Holy Spirit Could Come In and Abide

This is a simple truth, but yet very important to understand.   Without Jesus’ death we would not have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us today.   Of course the Holy Spirit is only in those who have received Him and not in everyone.   God does not force His entrance into the spirits of anyone.  Here is a verse of scripture that tells us something that Jesus said to us personally:

Joh 14:16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Jesus said in Revelation 3:20, “Behold I stand at the door and knock, if any man hear my voice and will open the door, I will come in a sup with him”.   So Jesus said I will come inside, if you open the door to your house and let me in.   This is a symbolic representation of the heart of man.   The comforter residing on the inside is a benefit, that nobody possessed before Christ died.   Jesus told us that it was better that he go away so that he could send us the Comforter (John 16:7).    While Jesus was here in the flesh, that would have been really cool to see.   However, Jesus clearly tells us that it is better the way we have it now than the physical Jesus when He was here.   You see a physical Jesus was the manifestation of the omnipotent God of Creation with limitations.   Jesus could only talk to a limited number of people at a time.  Jesus could only say one thing to everyone at the same time.   Jesus had to eat, sleep and do other business, just like we do every day.   Jesus was God with severe limitations and restrictions.   If you do not understand that statement, I’m sorry I do not have time to explain it.   Now that every Christian has God on a personal internal level, they have a teacher, the guide, the comforter and a true friend on the inside that cam speak to everyone independently and say something different to each of us at the same time.  That is the benefit of the Holy Spirit over the physical Jesus.

7.  To Fulfill the Law

Jesus made several statements about the law that are very profound.  One of them was that heaven and earth would pass away but the law (God’s Word) would never pass away (Luke 21:33).  This would indicate that the Word of God is something that is eternal.  What does it mean to fulfill something said?   I believe that it means to perform that which was spoken.

Mat 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

God’s words are prophetic and contain information about coming events.   God tells us that the “End is declared from the Beginning” (Isa 46:10).   God therefore knows the outcome even before He started.   God always recorded the outcome in the Bible for us to see before it actually happens on our timeline.   Before God did anything, God spoke and then it happens.   Jesus spoke repeatedly about the words of the prophets being fulfilled while they were walking about.   Jesus declared that everything written about him would be fulfilled.  We can therefore logically conclude that Jesus came to fulfill the Words of God that were prophesied about him.

Luk 24:27  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

As you can see the Old Testament Law of Moses is said to be words that describe Jesus and what He will do and accomplish.  These are very important things to note.

8.  To Reveal the Hidden Wisdom and Words of God

The Natural Nation of Israel and the Natural Jews have held the Words of God for thousands of years and yet they still do not understand what they say.  Jesus tried to teach as many who would hear the truth, but not very many people actually grasped the truth.   What you must realize is that the Bible was written in a manner that concealed information making it difficult for natural men to understand.  I believe that Jesus came to give us understanding and teach us the truth.  Now that Jesus is raised from the dead, I believe this understanding has been made available to us by the work of the Holy Spirit within us.

Mat 13:35  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

God has recorded many of the hidden wisdoms of God in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.   Jesus came and taught about natural things in the form of parables that revealed vastly profound spiritual truths, yet most of the listeners did not understand them.

Luk 24:27  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

You can go into many of the verses in the New Testament and see what Jesus revealed to His disciples.   Jesus went through the Old Testament starting with Genesis and showed these followers that He was written about on almost every page.   All of this was secrets hidden from the plain view of man.   I call this hiding the truth in plain sight.  God used many techniques to disguise the truth, but yet it was right there for us to see.  Did you know the term “mystery” only occurs in the New Testament?   While God wrote the mysteries in the Old Testament, God did not specifically tell anyone that they were there.  Jesus came along and read the scriptures and could see and understand the hidden secrets in the Word of God, since the Author of the Word was inside of Him.   Jesus took these secrets and opened them up for people to see and after He was raised from the dead the disciples finally got it.

9.  To Build a New Spiritual City

Jesus Christ became the chief cornerstone to a new spiritual City of God, called the New Jerusalem.   This spiritual city reflects a new beginning, with a spiritual people who are called those who are righteous in the eyes of God.   This organized spiritual structure is a new spiritual family of God and many of the old family members of God’s previous family have been omitted.  That is not very good news for them.

Heb 11:10  For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

You see even as Solomon built God a temple in Jerusalem as a type and pattern for the future spiritual work of the One that is greater than Solomon, Jesus came to the earth to become the builder of a new name of God.   As the Son of God, a son’s responsibility is to marry and carry on the family name.

1Pe 2:5  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

God tells us very clearly that each of us in the church is a “Living Stone” in a “Spritual House”.   Do you understand this type of building project?   Probably not, but yet God is using natural things to describe a spiritual structure made up of people.   This new spiritual house is the Bride of Christ, called the New Jerusalem in Revelation.  If you want to learn more about that you can go and read my blog on that subject, “The Bride of Christ Revealed“.

10.  To Divide

Here is my reason number 10 for the coming of Jesus Christ into the world.  This is of course a controversial reason for the coming of Jesus Christ, because it is not widely taught nor understood by many.  As you read this statement that Jesus makes, it would appear to contradict what the Bible says in other places.  Let’s just read and see what Jesus said personally about coming to the earth:

Luk 12:51  Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

Jesus is called the Prince of Peace (Isa 9:6), yet here in Luke Jesus said this is not why I am here.   That is a pretty radical statement being made by the Son of God.  God says I came to divide the earth and not to bring peace on the earth.   What is God talking about?   If you have read my other blogs you may already know the answer, but I will tell you again briefly.   On the 4th day of creation God divides Day from Night and gives the Sun to Rule the Day and the Moon to Rule the Night.   The Night is a 12 hour period of darkness, the Day is a 12 hour period of Light.   These two separate divisions are symbolic representations for what Jesus is talking about in this verse in Luke.   Jesus is called the “Sun of Righteousness” (Mal 4:2).   Jesus is called the “Light of the World” (Jo 8:12).   Jesus is called the “True Light” (Jo 1:9).   Jesus is called the “Day Star” (2 Peter 1:19).   Jesus is called the “Bright and Morning Star” (Rev 22:16).   All of these are synonymous terms for the Sun that produces light on our planet.   Jesus came into the world as the spiritual Light of the World and His Word causes illumination in the hearts of men and women so that they no longer live in darkness.   Being children of the light and children of the day, we are the ones that have been divided from those that remain in the darkness (1 Th 5:5).  All of this is a division that is taking place in the spiritual realm.  God is dividing those who belong to Christ from those who belong to Satan.  The end result is said to be completely different for both of these groups.

Mat 25:46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Jesus speaks of two divisions of people in this one basic statement.   Those that are righteous go to a realm of life everlasting, and those that are unrighteous to everlasting punishment.   Two different results, two different people, two different divisions.  This was one of the key reasons Jesus came to the earth and God declares it.  You can choose to believe it or reject it.

The Hidden Jesus in Genesis! Jesus Revealed in the Hidden Patterns of Genesis!

(Ver 1.5)  Jesus makes a very profound and awesome statement in the Gospels while He was speaking to the people of the natural nation of Israel.  These are such tremendously important words that we (Christians) need to grasp and fully understand what they say and what they mean.  Please read with me this statement spoken by the Almighty God personally to humans:

Joh 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

A witness is someone who testifies in court of law.  A witness in a court of law is someone who comes in and testifies about what they know, what they have seen or for something as an expert that is relevant and pertains to the case in question.   An expert witness in a court case is someone who can speak with a certain level of authority on the specific related subject about the case.   So God’s claim in this verse appears to indicate that the Bible is an expert witness for God’s case that He is presenting to us about the existence of Jesus Christ and His true identity.   We should be able to clearly see what God is saying about the purpose of the Bible.  God claims that the Old Testament contained hidden information about who Jesus was and what He is going to accomplish before He was done.  Jesus also clearly informed us that we needed to search the scriptures to find this information.  If we are required to become a “Sherlock Holmes” type of Christian doing a search of the written word in order to find these facts, that would mean that this information is not always clearly presented on the initial surface reading.   This would also indicate that the information about Jesus was purposely hidden either from someone or for someone like us to find.  For example, why do parents hide Easter eggs for their young children?  Is it to protect the candy from being discovered?   No actually it is more for the fun of seeing their children search for them with eager expectations of finding them.    The purpose of hiding eggs is not to keep the children from ever finding the candy but it does simply create a challenge for them that provides the parents the pleasure of seeing the excitement derived from their discovery.  This is a key concept that is needed to fully grasp about the words found in the Old Testament.  The Bible contains literally many hidden secrets about Jesus and these concealed clues were placed there by our Heavenly Father for us (His children) to search and discover.

The Law of Moses was given to Israel on Mt Sinai and they carried these words for many hundreds of years.  The Jewish people preserved them and cared for them and then when the author of the book appeared before them in the flesh they killed him.  Why is this, I asked myself?  I can see Jesus in the Old Testament, why couldn’t they see Jesus in the same way?  That of course is a really good question to consider.  I would guess that it is extremely more difficult to see what you do not know personally exists.  For Christians who know Jesus personally, they have a much greater advantage over the people in Jesus’ days on the earth.  They did not know Him like we can know Him so it is much easier for us to discover Jesus in the hidden verses in O.T. books like Genesis.  The rest of this lesson will be about something that I have blogged on before, but maybe not in this direct context and under this specific title.   This lesson will focus on the hidden Jesus in Genesis and I will give you at least three really good examples of Him that maybe you have not seen before.   I will focus only on the first two chapters of Genesis and you will certainly be amazed if you can see it.  Before, we start, I pray that the eyes of your understanding be opened and enlightened to see God’s truth.

Genesis 1:1

alpha_omega3_6Let’s start with Genesis 1:1, where it says “In the beginning God created, the heaven and the earth”.  Did you know Jesus was Hidden in this verse in Genesis by the Author?  However, unless you read and study it in the original Hebrew language you probably did not specifically know this.  The 4th word of the original Hebrew text is a word that has been completely omitted from the English translation and this one word reveals Jesus in this verse in a very profound way.  The Hebrew word omitted in this verse is actually not a real word at all and thus the reason for the omission of a translation to the English language.  The translators simply did not understand what to do with it, so they omitted it.    This omitted word consists of only two Hebrew letters.  These two letters are the “alef” and the “tav”.   These two Hebrew letters just so happen to be the very first and very last letters of the Hebrew alphabet.  Does that help you to see Jesus better now?   What I am saying is that Genesis 1:1 should have read “In the beginning the A-Z God created the heavens and the earth”.  The translators did not understand the significance and they ignored the word being connected to the name of God.

Rev 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

This new information should start to illuminate many spiritual light bulbs inside your heart and mind.   You see , here in the book of Revelation chapter 1 and verse 8 Jesus calls Himself the “Alpha and the Omega”.  It just so happens that these are also the very first and very last letters of an alphabet, but here it is of the Greek Alphabet.   If the translators would have converted these two Greek letters to English properly Jesus would have said “I am the A and the Z”.  Now do you see the connection more clearly? Also consider the fact that Jesus was a Hebrew.  He spoke predominately Hebrew to the Jewish people.  Therefore, when spoken this verse in Revelation could have been written in Hebrew and said “I am the Alef and the Tav”.  Since it was written in Greek the Apostle John did the inspired thing to convert into Greek letters from the original spoken Hebrew.  The English translators could have followed His example and legally translated it as the A and the Z.

What God is doing is revealing who created the world that we live in.  Jesus Christ was the Word of God and He created ALL things that we can see and observe.  Without Him was nothing that was made, made (John 1:1-3).  So Jesus is clearly identified as the creator God, the “A-Z God” who created everything that was created.  This is a very profound and priceless conformation of the identity of the Messiah to be the man Jesus Christ.  In the Beginning the A-Z God created the heavens and the earth.  That is how this verse should have read, now let’s go find Jesus in some other verses in Genesis.

Genesis 1:15-19  Day 4 of Creation

Gen 1:14  And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
Gen 1:15  And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
Gen 1:16  And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
Gen 1:17  And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
Gen 1:18  And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:19  And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

I want to skip down in chapter 1 of Genesis to the described Day 4 of creation.  This day is one of the most important hidden references to Jesus in all of Genesis.  I do not profess to know every hidden reference to Jesus in Genesis, but I feel this one is one of the most important to see based upon my current understanding of the Bible.   You see on Day 4 of the creation account, God tells us of two opposing lights.  What God is doing is speaking symbolically and prophetically in these verses about Jesus Christ and what will be accomplished by His appearance on the earth.

In studying the days of creation I learned that every day of creation represented a prophetic day of man’s future on the earth.  Since the beginning of Adam’s creation it has been approximately 6000 years.   6000 years can be divided evenly by 1000 giving us an answer of 6.   These 6 equal periods of 1000 years represent a prophetic day in the definition of God’s timetable for man.  We learn in 2 Peter 3:8 where God gives us a definition of a prophetic day that is a direct quote of a verse found in Psalm 90:4.  God defines that a day to Him is exactly like 1000 years to humans.  So the 6 days of creation plus the 7th day of God’s rest turn out to be prophetic days of all of man’s history on the earth.   So what happens on the 4th day of creation?   God assigns a greater light to rule the day and a lesser light to rule the night.  The greater light is of course a synonymous title for the Sun and the lesser light is certainly the moon.  But, God is not talking about only natural things, God is prophesying about two spiritual kingdoms to come.   Jesus was born on the earth some 4000 years after Adam and this can be easily translated as during the time of the 4th day of creation.   God is prophesying that Jesus will rule the kingdom of day and be the Sun light of our world.  God is further stating that Satan (the symbolic moon) will rule the kingdom of the night and all those people that live in this darkness.  There are so many scriptures that can be found in the Bible that speak of this profound revelation.  I will not attempt to give you them all, but I will go through a few to get you started.  You can read other blogs that I have written to find more information on this subject.  Or just search your Bible on your phone or computer and look for words like night, day, darkness and light.

Mal 4:2  But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

In Malachi 4:2 Jesus Christ is prophesied as coming again in a very similar way that was being described in Genesis 1.  Here Jesus is called the “Sun of Righteousness” that will “arise”.    In this verse He is not spoken of as the “Son of God”, but here He is in direct connection to being the “Sun of God”.  You can understand that God is speaking symbolically again about far greater spiritual truths.   These are clues to knowing the truth but we are required to search and put them together correctly with the Lord’s help of course.

Joh 1:7  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Joh 1:8  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light
Joh 1:9  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

In John 1:7-9, the Bible talks about John the Baptist and Jesus and calls Jesus the “True Light” in verse 9.   You see if you think about this logically you can see that our sun in the sky is our physical natural true light that rules over the day and the moon represents the opposite realm that rules over the night.  This is a direct comparison of the two great lights in the sky mentioned in Genesis 1.   In John 8:12 Jesus is speaking and He calls himself the “Light of the World”.  He then says that those who follow Him will not walk in darkness (night) where the unstated moon (Satan) rules.   You can again see a spiritual reference to a truth that is revealed in Genesis on the 4th day of creation.  These opposing truths are called Day vs. night, the Sun vs. the moon, and the Light vs. the darkness.   These are all symbolic representations of the hearts and spirits of men and women in the world today.  Two spiritual dimensions and conditions that are directly opposed to each other and ruled by opposite spirits.   Again in John 12:46 Jesus says, “I am come as a light to the world, that those who believe in me should not abide in darkness”.  Jesus says those who do not follow Christ and His ways are those that are walking and living in the darkness and who are ruled by the night and Satan.  This CANNOT be speaking of Christians.  There is absolutely no logical way this can come close to the truth for those that believe the moon represents Christians.  I have heard this belief from several people before, but it just does not balance with scriptures.  A Christian is either ruled by Jesus in the Day or governed and ruled by Satan in the darkness..

2Pe 1:19  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Here we have another great verse that declares Jesus to be the Sun that arises and shines in human hearts to light our spirits so that we can see and understand His truth.  Notice the keyword connection “arise” given here that matches what Malachi prophesied about the “Sun of Righteousness”.  That is NOT a coincidence.  These are all profound confirmations to the 4th day of creation.  Notice that this verse in 2 Peter is speaking about previously written prophetic words concerning a light arising in a previously named dark place.  We have to search and look for these words and find them, could this be those that we found mentioned in  Genesis and Malachi?  All you have to do is read it and see what it says about these two lights to see how much is related to what we have observed.

That is part of the difficulty in correct Bible interpretation.  The Sun is called by many different names, titles and descriptions in the Bible so we have to be wise enough to see the connections and find them all using God’s help.   In Genesis the Sun is called the “Greater Light”.   In John the Spiritual Sun was called the “True Light”.  Here in 2 Peter the Sun is called the “Day Star”.   You do understand that our sun is our closest star to our planet and normally this start is the only one we can see during daylight hours?  These are just some of the ways that God uses to hide information in the Bible for us to find.   In Revelation 22:16 you can see Jesus being called the “Bright and Morning Star”.  This again is a new symbolic reference to the Sun in Genesis 1 and Malachi 4 that arises in the hearts of men.  These are all extremely important things to learn and to understand.  I hope and pray that was sufficient to at least motivate you to go learn more.

Genesis 2  Adam and Eve

Another way God uses stories in the Old Testament to hide spiritual information concerning Jesus is through the use of typology.    These are true natural stories of real natural people, places and things that have greater spiritual meanings attached to them to reveal to us hidden things that we cannot see.  Sometimes types and shadows can be hard to recognize and difficult to discover  or understand.  However, God has given to us some clues in the Bible to help us and to point us to what to look for.  Always trust the Holy Spirit to help you in your Bible study.  He is the only one that truly knows what it means.   In the 2nd chapter of Genesis God gives us the detailed account of the creation of man and of the woman, the law of marriage and the story of the beginning of the first human family on the planet.  This entire chapter is a more detailed view of Day 6 of creation described in Genesis 1. Why is this detail information important and how does this relate to the claim of Jesus to be hidden in Genesis?  That is a really good question.  So here is the beginning of the primary reason why this is so important to know:

1Co 15:45  And so it is written, The first man Adam  was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Here is a direct clue from God showing us a direct connection between two different men both called Adam.   This verse compares the first created man Adam to the man Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ here is being called the “Last Adam”.   Why is that?   What you discover when you study Genesis 2,  is that the first natural man Adam was a natural pattern for the last spiritual man Adam that was to come.  So whatever God did to and for the first man Adam, is what will happen to the Last Man Adam in the spiritual realm.  That of course is some totally new information to many Christians and it may be hard to accept at first, but just keep studying and you will see that it is true.

God created Adam’s wife and took her body from his body.  You will recall God put Adam asleep and took from his side the bone to create a woman.  As a result of what God did, Adam says “She is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh”.  In other words, Eve was called the “body of Adam”.   According to the law of marriage given to us in Genesis 2, it says “The man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall become one flesh”.   One flesh is just another way of saying “One Body”.   Many people know that the Church is called the Body of Christ in the N.T. and yet they do not know how we became the Body of Christ.   We can answer this mystery very easily if we see that by the law of marriage and the pattern of the first man Adam Genesis 2, the church has now become the Body of Jesus by a new covenant of marriage.  You can see this very clearly by reading verses in Ephesians 5 about husbands and wives and then God reveals that this is a mystery that concerns Christ and the church.

Remember when Jesus was hanging on the cross?  He died on that cross and in the N.T. this is often referred to as being asleep (1 Cor 11:30, 1 Cor 15:51).  Jesus Christ being dead (asleep) on the cross was pierced in His side by a Roman soldier’s spear.   Does this sound familiar to what we read in Genesis 2?  Out of His side flowed Blood and Water.  These are two powerful elements of our salvation to become His bride.  Jesus Christ is the spiritual Last Adam who marries a wife who becomes His Body born out of His side.  Because Eve is a woman that births every natural and physical being on this planet she represents a natural type of another spiritual woman who will birth spiritual realities in God’s new covenant family.   I have many other blogs that talk about this in much more depth if you are interested.

Gal 4:19  My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

Conclusion

These were just 3 of the examples of the hidden Jesus in Genesis chapters 1 and 2.  I hope that you learned something and can now begin to see how to learn to search out other hidden references to Jesus in Genesis trusting in God’s guidance.  Many times these hidden references are not obvious at all, so we have to search for scriptures and find references, definitions, types and patterns revealed in other parts of the Bible.  Jesus told us to search the scriptures, for these are they that testify of Him!   The evidence for God can be found in His Word.  God Bless!

Why Did Jesus Leave Heaven and Come To the Earth?

jesus-in-the-manger(Ver 1.3)  There are several possible answers to this question and I am only going to address one of them today in this Bible study.  I have already established the fact that Jesus was God present in the flesh in other Bible lessons.  Therefore, I will not repeat that information again today.  Just know that God the supreme creator, became a human male and was born into the world in a Bethlehem manger approximately 2000 years ago.  Jesus walked the planet in the form of human flesh for approximately 33 years and was then willingly crucified on a cross by the Roman Empire and the captive nation of Israel.  That was just a quick synopsis of some of the Bible Christian theological basics that you should already be intimately familiar with.  But, why was it necessary for God/Jesus to come to earth in the flesh and to shed His blood?  What transpired or made it necessary for only God Himself to appear on the planet to solve the problem?  Couldn’t God just create something new, or say something or do something or send someone else?  Isn’t God still God?  Why was it so important for the supreme God to do this personally?  I think that is an amazing question to consider and one that if you really understood the answer, would explain so many other questions that you have yet to figure ask.

Today I will introduce you to just one of the most important answers to this question and I hope that you can at least begin to grasp these basic concepts.  What we see from the Bible is that God had a problem.  Of course we know that God is all powerful, all knowing, ever present and capable of doing practically anything.  I did say “practically anything” and that will probably rock some people’s religious boats (minds).  You see extremely religious people like to believe that God is capable of doing anything and everything and there is nothing that is impossible for Him.  That would be a great truth if that was what the Bible really said, but since the Bible doesn’t say that I can’t agree with any of that kind of thinking.  You see in one part of the Bible God says that it is impossible for Him to lie (Heb 6:18).  If you understand what the definition of “impossible” means it clearly states this will never happen under any circumstances.  I’ve heard some very religious theological ignorant people who have tried to explain this away using human reasoning that whatever God says, if it was not previously true when He said it that it would become true after He said it.  After all He is an omnipotent God and truth is always relevant to what God wills.   In other words if God says the sky is Green in color when it is not, then yesterday the sky might have been blue but tomorrow it would suddenly appear to us as green.  So God would change things to fit what He said today and if tomorrow He wants it a different way He would change to cause it to be different.  However, that reasoning just does not conform and balance with other scriptures either.  The Bible clearly says that God is God and that He does not change (Mal 3:6).  In other words He is a constant and consistently good God who does not change His mind or do one thing today and another totally different opposite thing tomorrow.  I guess I got off of the main subject so let’s get back to why Jesus came to earth in the flesh.

Here is a key verse that informs us of at least one of the main reasons why God came to earth in the flesh.  Open the eyes of your spirit to see what the Holy Ghost has to say to you about this reality.  This verse is found in 1 John and it states the following:

1Jn 3:8  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

We can determine from the context of this verse that one of the primary themes being communicated to us is concerning SIN!  We can see that God is telling us about the source of sin, how and where sin originated.  This verse calls the source the devil, but this is just another name for the ancient serpent also called Satan.  If you read Revelation 12:9 you will see the true identity defined of this evil one, with several of his other names and symbolic descriptive titles being also connected together.  What we begin to learn from this verse is the origin of God’s problem and the root cause for every evil that has entered into our world.  I know that some are still struggling to see how God could have a problem.  I’ve heard many religious minded theological people say that God is simply using Satan as a pawn and Satan doesn’t do anything unless he first checks with God and asks permission and God grants it or rejects it.  In other words God is in ultimate control of everything and everyone and nothing happens unless God has a specific plan and purpose for it.  That deceptive reasoning is ignorance gone to seed and borderline stupidity.  That line of thinking doesn’t fit what God says in the Bible and doesn’t match in a balanced way with the description of a God who is called LOVE (1 Jn 4:8).  Many humans have a very perverted concept of what true LOVE is because they based their concepts of love on their experiences here in this world.   They then misapply these wrong concepts to explain why God does or does not stop bad things from happening in our world.  When the earthquake hit Haiti I heard one minister on TV say something like this was God’s judgment for their sinful lifestyle.  In other words God specifically caused this event to happen to punish some very wicked people.  That is just idiotic when people think like that.  We haven’t really talked about why Jesus came to earth, but it was for many reasons and one of them was to pay the price for all of our sins, past, present and future.  His blood was a ransom payment for the sin of the world.  So if God is now killing people because of their sin, then why did He come in the first place?  We are all sinners, why didn’t He just kill us all and start over?

So let’s get back to our primary Bible verse of the day.  In this verse it tells us that the Son of God was made manifest because God had to destroy the works of the devil or Satan.   If Satan was the problem why didn’t God just throw Satan into hell and that would be the end of him?  I think that is an excellent question that people do not know the answer to either.  If you understood the answer to that question you would realize that God has a major problem on His hands, but one that He is still capable of solving.  The term “destroy” in this verse has a different meaning than what most people think of when they think of something that has been destroyed.  To destroy something in our world would mean that it has been obliterated or that it was blown to millions of little pieces.  But that is not what this Greek word (G3089) is saying to us.  This word translated in the KJV as “destroy” actually means to “loosen”.  To loosen something implies that something was first held captive or prisoner that needed to be freed.  Knowing that alone dispels the theory that God is in control of everything in this world.  If whatever was held captive was in God’s control, God would not have had to come personally to earth to “loosen” it, would He?  So who or what was being held captive?  We can find the answer in the Bible:

Isa 52:2  Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

This scripture in Isaiah is prophetically speaking to the New Jerusalem city described in Revelation as the Lamb’s wife.  You can clearly see that if you read and study the context.  But notice the instructions given to this woman.  She is told to get loose from the bonds around her neck.  That implies a woman who is a  prisoner or a slave to something or someone.  If the human race was in covenant with Satan and in the bonds of sin, as I believe we were, then you can begin to see the problem that God is faced with.  God cannot do anything to Satan without doing the exact same thing to all of his captives.  But it is really more complex than that.  You see I believe that God was also in covenant with Satan.  So God could not do anything to Satan that He wouldn’t also have to do to Himself.  When you start to think along these lines you begin to see a lot of things in the Bible differently.  You begin to think in a new way and see things that God is revealing to us in some very important verses in the Bible.  For example, God tells us that Satan would not have crucified Jesus if he would have known what was going to happen or result from His death (1 Cor 2:8).  Apparently God did something unexpected that was very strong and powerful through  Jesus’ death on the cross and when He was raised from the dead.  This one man’s action caused Satan to regret greatly killing him.  The Bible says that God used death to destroy him that had the power of death.   We learn from the study of the book of Ruth that death represents a force that breaks a covenant relationship.  In most marriage ceremonies there is a clause spoken “until death do us part”.  That means in our marriage covenant relationship we will always be together until one of us dies.  Since Jesus was God in the flesh we can begin to understand that Jesus through His death severed any previous covenants that He was in.  God used death as a legal termination of the covenants that He was in prior to His death.  When Jesus was raised from the dead He was now legally able to enter into a New Covenant that did not include Satan in the family.  Jesus said something very profound after he was raised from the dead and it is found in this statement “all power both in heaven and in earth has been given to me” (Mat 28:18).  But, I thought Jesus was God and that God already had all power both in heaven and on the earth?  Why would it be necessary for God to transfer all His authority to the risen Lord Jesus?  Do you understand that difficulty presented in this information?  Apparently  we learn from this statement that God did not have all authority in both realms or it would not had been necessary for it to be given it to Jesus.  Do you see how complex the Bible can get on such a simple subject?  Let me show you another verse found in the Bible that further confirms this reality of truth:

Heb 2:8  Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

Here we have another paradox being presented.  God says everything has been placed under the feet of Jesus and then reveals not everything is yet there.  Do you understand that statement?  Well, probably not!  First again why is it necessary for everything to be placed under Jesus if everything was already under God in heaven?  This verse goes along with what Jesus said to us Matthew 28:18 that ALL power has been given to Him but yet we still read in many other verses that Satan remains present on the earth and that Satan still has power (Luke 10:19).  This presents some very difficult scriptural and theological conflicts to resolve.

What we see from this short lesson is the fact that God had a problem.  God’s problem originated with Satan or Lucifer as he was also called.  Satan did something that caused the human race to be in a terrible self-solvable dilemma.  Satan had corrupted God’s creation and became the “god of this world” (2 Cor 4:4).  Being called the god of this world implies that he had taken control over everything that God had previously given to Adam in Genesis 1:26.  However, God had a planned solution in place already from the beginning to get it all back in a legal way that not only solves our problem, but also solved God’s problems simultaneously.   Our problem was sin and death and God’s problem was primarily Satan.  God used Jesus to fix both of these problems.  Jesus redeemed us from the consequences of sin.  Through His shed blood our sacrificial lamb was slain and the payment for sin was made once for all.  But through the death of Jesus on the cross, God’s covenant with Satan was also terminated and now Satan can be thrown into hell legally.  I know I said a lot and I quoted a lot of scriptures and didn’t give you references to a bunch of them, I’m sorry about that.  I also know this is a lot of new things to think about and study in the Bible and I hope that you do the research to see if these things that I said are true or not.  I challenge you to study for yourself and not to take my word for anything.

Jesus had a Problem with Religion

(Ver 1.2) Many try to classify Christianity as a religion, but it is not a religion, it is a relationship.  You either know God or you don’t or more importantly God knows you or He doesn’t.  In Luke 13:25, Jesus tells a story of those that are standing on the outside crying out “Lord, Lord”.  Jesus tells them “Depart, I know ye not”.  What a sad story of people who thought they did everything right but didn’t know God and more importantly weren’t known by God.

Reading and studying the Gospels, I found Jesus to be a loving and compassionate individual, to all but one group of people.  So did God show favoritism by NOT treating these people the same as he did the common sinners.  These people that Jesus constantly confronted in abrupt terms were the religious people of His day.  These were the rulers of the Jews.  These were those that thought of themselves as being better than everyone else.  These are the people that thought they knew more than everyone else, including God who was standing before them.  These were the keepers of the law of God, who added to the Word of God and made it of no affect due to their traditions and decrees.   Jesus was not kind to these people and said some very blunt things to them.  He called the children of Satan (John 8:44).  He called them serpents, a generation of vipers (Mat 23:33).  He said many things to them that can still be said to people even in the church today.

Religion has always been man’s attempt to please a God they do not know.  Most of the time religion involves strict rules of thou shalt not do this and that.  Many religions people punish themselves, do without things, even hurt themselves by beating their bodies with chains or other crazy things.  All in an attempt to make themselves worthy of something that God has already given to them for free.  But religious people go so far above and beyond that simple definition and description.  There are religious people probably sitting next to in church.  Full of themselves and how good they are.  They are so much better than you and I.  Try to teach them something new and they scream heretic, hearsay, garbage, junk.  They close their minds, ears and eyes to the truth and are content with what they think they know.  Happy to live in ignorance and remain ignorant.  You probably noticed I take after Jesus, I confront religious people straight on, I’m not trying to please everybody with a watered-down teaching that just let’s everyone do as they please.  Jesus wasn’t like that, and we shouldn’t be like that.  Jesus would commune with sinners, eat with tax collectors and call religious people idiots.  Ok, I admit idiots, was my interpretation of some of His strongest words.  Love all of those that will open and let you into the doors of their hearts but confront those religious types of people who say that we are wrong in doing that.
